Enjoyable but very flawed

This game is enjoyable in the same way PvZ has always been. Problem with this one is that the levels are all fixed. You have no choice in what levels to play. You just have to do them in numerical order. You can’t choose what plants to use to use. There are no long term upgrades or anything. Just set puzzles/levels, one after another. Which in theory should be ok. The problem is that they ramp up the difficulty. Hardcore. To the point where if the exact sequence of zombie types don’t spawn in the exact sequence of lanes then you are guarenteed to lose. The game is built for you to be churning through consumables just to scrape through a level. To no one’s surprise there consumables are in app purchases. So it feels frustrating when I lose in a situation where the level was never even possible in the first place, I can’t play any other level and there aren’t any strategic decisions I can make that would solve the problem. Just money. So in summary, PvZ 2 was waaay better and the fact this game is built around in app purchases being mandatory ruins it.

Criticism received but not listened.

I loved playing Plants Vs Zombies when it first came out, it was a great game, and was unique at its time. A classic game with no micro-transactions. Plants vs Zombies 2 came and it came out to Mobile, not really an issue but then you guys decided to make micro-transactions for new plants which made no sense, I don’t understand why you can’t go back to the old days. Fast forward, we get news about Plants Vs Zombies 3, the art style was terrible, and it just looked like an average mobile game, you wouldn’t think that it was made by the people who made the previous games, many people complained about the issues, and now with it’s full release, it looks like nothing was fixed / addressed. The well beloved Pick-A-Plant system gone, replaced with the game picking the plants for you each level, you can’t earn new plants or anything. Each time you complete a level you get a “Dave Ticket” which is used to complete a task to fix up “Dave’s House or City / Town” which felt copied from games like “Homescapes or Gardenscapes” where you do a mini-game in order to fix up the house. I can’t say whether this game has micro-transactions or not because I stopped after Level 5, it got boring and repetitive really fast, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did add micro-transactions, I mean it’s EA.

Congratulations EA, you have completely killed Plants Vs Zombies.

It took 10 years to release something this boring?!

I loved PvZ 1 and 2 (despite the appearance of hideous micro-transactions in the latter), but I’m up to level 70 so far in PvZ3 and I’m bored out of my mind with uninspired gameplay and a monotonous and pointless story/task system, I can’t believe it took them 10 years to release something this rubbish. I’ve finally uninstalled it as I can’t stand it any longer, and I’m going back to the previous games which are far superior. This game is utter trash. You can’t pick what plants you get, you get the same plants over and over and over again, I’ve seen a total of only about 8 different plants after 70 levels. Each level is over WAY too quickly with no real ability to be that strategic, I presume so you can advance the “story”, which in itself is mind numbingly tedious, Dave needs X, play short zombie game, you get “ticket”, spend “ticket”, Dave does X… the tasks are banal, the tickets are a mechanic that isn’t needed as you immediately spend them, so they are pointless. The story backgrounds seem fuzzy and low res. By about day 5ish the game was prompting me to spend money on consumables. By about level 30 ads start appearing. Mobile gaming has rapidly gone down the toilet in quality over that past few years, and this is just as evident in this awful experience which is barely a game.
