Register

Why do I need to register to protect my plant photographs? I just want to identify a flower.

Response: I understand the need for registration if I was an expert user and was using it all the time to keep logs of my flower finds etc, but I would also suspect there is also a huge proportion of your users who just want to identify a flower from time to time. For me it was useless in that regard if I had to register first and I went elsewhere. I changed review to 3 as I’m sure others wouldn’t mind register and would use all the lovely features you have. Good luck

Developer Response ,

Hello Smallz443!Registration protects PlantSnap from hackers and allows you to save your snaps and use them on any device, including your laptop or desktop with a web browser. If something ever happens to your phone, your PlantSnap account is always safe. All snaps are anonymous...there is no tracking involved per GDPR rules. We wish you the best!

Totally Fraudulent App

Beware. Completely fraudulent. The app claimed to offer a 7 day free trial but I have been charged for a yearly subscription. Are you kidding me. Blatantly fraudulent. Will be reporting to Apple and requesting a full refund. Avoid.
UPDATE TO MY REVIEW AFTER DEVELOPER RESPONSE:
The Developer completely sidestepped my issue. This further confirms that their approach is deceptive and fraudulent. Buyer’s beware. If you look at my review I never commented that you couldn’t use the App without the subscription which by the way is pretty useless as everything you need to do asks you to sign up. No. My point was that I checked the button for the free trial which in an honest App means that you are charged if you continue beyond the free trial period or do not cancel before the trial ends. In my case I opted for the free trial and was immediately charged a whopping 19 pounds. Thankfully I contacted Apple support and was issued a refund. Bear in mind the 19 pounds immediately went out of Bank and I had to wait a week for the refund to process.
Not to mention the results are so poor. A google image search yields better or similar results.

***UPDATE***
Hello saronline! PlantSnap has over 35 million installs in the past 2 years. Apple has guidelines that show you how to create introductory offers and free trials. When you submit an app update, before it is made live in the app store, an Apple technician reviews the app to make sure there are no problems and that there is no fraud, etc. In fact, you can read about this yourself on the Apple website. I'm afraid that complaining to Apple about a product they created themselves for apps to use will be a fruitless endeavor.
https://developer.apple.com/app-store/subscriptions/#offering-introductory-prices
Every screen in our app has very clear instructions, from the snap screen to the subscription screen. All that we can do, as a company, is provide you with the information that explains how to use the app and how our subscriptions work. Unfortunately, what we cannot do is force you to actually read the words on the screens. Saronline...here is a screenshot showing the screen that you had to DOUBLE-CLICK in order to activate the free trial.

Please, this time, read the words that you ignored the first time you encountered this screen.
We will let the public decide who is at fault here...the PlantSnap app, or the user who went through 3 deliberate steps/screen clicks, then double-clicked a button on their phone in order to subscribe, apparently without ever reading one word that was on the screens he/she was interacting with.
We would like to end this response by asking all users to PLEASE read the words on the screens inside the app if you are having difficulties. If you still need help, PLEASE write to support@plantsnap.net so that we can help you personally. Our tech team is there 24/7/365.
