My thoughts on the PlayStation app

Honestly the PlayStation app is a really good app for checking if your friends are online and if there’s any new games on ps plus but in the time I’ve had this app I’ve picked up on a few things that really need to be fixed or improved. 1. I like creating videos to post on social media through clips on PlayStation but I’ve had a few really good ideas in the past for videos and I’ve not been able to do them due to the fact you cant upload clips more than three minutes to the ps app this has really bugged me because I will spend hours to days trying to get good or funny clips and then only for them to be too long to upload and therefore wasting my time and making me upset. 2. Finding out about some things through the ps app can be really difficult dues to bad ui, such as when finding games that you have installed due to just unclear titles/subheadings. But overall the PlayStation app is very useful and not well known enough.

Old app did some things better!

I really like the look of the new redesigned app and that it includes PS Messages, no need for separate apps anymore.... However.... PS Messages seems to have taken steps backwards, in the old PS Messages app any screenshots/pictures posted in your message groups could be zoomed in on and/or device rotated to enlarge in landscape so you could actually make out what’s going on in screenshots and it actually looked good because let’s face it... screenshots posted in message groups look terrible when viewed on the PlayStation itself! The app was the only way to see a good quality version of the screenshots.
However with this new app it is no longer possible to zoom in on posted screenshots or rotate device to enlarge in landscape view, instead if you want to actually make out what’s going on in screenshots you currently have to download them to your device photo album, minimise the PS app, open up your album, find the screenshot/s and open them in your devices photo viewer to be able to zoom in/rotate to see the screenshot properly! It’s a really stupid oversight, especially since Sony is pushing the whole share your experiences thing!

Good but…

All is fine with the app. The only issue I have had so far is when I am in a party with a friend, I click on their name and I can’t exit this because the cross is all the way in the top right. I have an iPhone 14 Pro and I don’t think it’s designed with the iPhones Dynamic Island in mind, as the cross is behind my battery icon and I cannot press it no matter how long I try. I end up stuck on the screen and cannot access the rest off the app until I close the app and reopen it which is very inconvenient, this also takes me out of the PlayStation party that I’m speaking to my friends in and requires me to rejoin again. I thought PlayStation would fix this issue so I ignored it and have been waiting for the bug to be fixed but it still hasn’t been resolved, so I’ve come to write a review in hopes that this irritating issues resolves.
