What’s New

Version 9.2.4

We have of course been tinkering in the background to make sure our app is functioning in tip top form, but this update is all about bringing back a highly requested feature. Yes, swiping articles is back! You can now open an article, swipe left and read the next article, or swipe again and again, there is no end to the swiping fun one can have, oh… and we even track your position in the home feed, so when you are done reading, we’ll put you right back in the feed at the last article you looked at, Nice! Stay tuned, as we have much more in the pipeline.

Herald done good. For once.

Plymouth’s local paper has long since needed to take a long hard look at itself; and consider its future. The new app is one way they have thought of this and come good. Clean, fast, easy interface and most importantly; no advertising which is where they went wrong on their website.
Well done herald. Very good app. Now all you need to do is sort out your journalism and editing and you will be half way to recovery.👍🏻👍🏻

Ridiculous

Not a very good app anymore. A lot of the stories are either recycled from previous submissions or they are clickbait not even about Plymouth. The rest are ok though.
They have over the last 2-3 months updated it with a premium option which I don’t have a problem with…what I do have a problem with is the fact that if you don’t pay to use the app, you’re limited to only reading 15 stories within a weekly period which is 2 stories a day if you use it everyday. Not only that, but the latest update to the app now locks certain stories behind the paywall meaning if you want to look at some interesting sounding articles, you’ll probably have to pay now. Used to use the website but that became unreliable, and now this app has done the same.

Refuse to pay for the monthly/yearly subscription as I don’t think it is worth it when a lot of the stories don’t even look like that have been proof read, with a lot of grammatical and spelling errors that even a child could pick out.

Will be deleting this app now and I’ll get my news from somewhere else that still allows free news

Awful

Some nice changes but in general this is awful, difficult to navigate to different pages other than the four headers on the home screen, for instance if you want sport then unless there is a story in the news there is no link to go to those pages. Useless

Developer Response ,

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. As it happens you can access any topic you like from the Discover tab. Simply tap the category name and view the stories. Better still, you can tap the plus icon and add it to your navigation along with the 4 you already have in My News. Regards, The Reach PLC Apps Team
