POM - Meet Through Music 17+

Really great concept but it would be great if the genre filter were even more specific. About half the people that you see even with filters applied are people with incredibly generic tastes in music (Billie Eilish, Drake, etc), which, why…do you even need this app. Like if you could integrate Spotify’s ‘similar artists’ feature and people could come up based on how similar their favourite artists are to yours that would be even better. For example I do like hip hop (90s jazz rap) but if I dare select that as a genre filter it will show me loads of drake and future fans.

I signed up to this as I’m a massive music lover I thought this would be a great way to meet somebody. But I had problems right from the beginning. Took an hour to fill out my profile properly, add pictures and get my profile ‘strength’ up. But when I went to look at it matches it kept telling me that I needed a profile strength of 70% despite my profile strength being 83%. It wouldn’t show me any matches at all.

Also when I initially signed up I logged in via Google. To try to fix the issue with the matches I logged out thinking I could log back in and it would’ve changed things. But when I went to sign back in it would no longer let me sign in with Google rendering my profile unavailable to login to.

Really not impressed. For an app that’s had a lot of promotion it should’ve been in a much more finished state.

Aside from the whole startup mishap that happened when they launched the app, there’s really nothing much to it for me. The people I’ve seen on my feed have zero similar music interests to me and it makes me wonder why they hell the app isn’t doing it’s job. After the app issues after the first week of launching, the anticipation was gone and I totally forgot there was a new dating app I was supposed to be using. I also don’t think there are many people on the app at the moment as I run out of likes after THREE PEOPLE, and also the sign up page literally appears almost everytime I open the app again 🙄 everyone makes mistakes and we’re only human, but why push an app so hard when it’s not even up to mediocre standards and without actually testing how the launch would be on a testing team??
