Porsche Car Connect – Remote display and control of your Porsche from your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Starting from model year 2014, Porsche Car Connect brings you the ability to remotely access your Porsche from your iPhone. This requires that your Porsche is equipped with a Porsche Car Connect unit. Depending on your country, your model and the options installed, you will be able to remotely locate the position of your Porsche, fold exterior mirrors, set timers for charging, read the tire pressure or set a geo and speed fence.

And as of April 2015 we’re now Apple Watch ready, offering even more convenient remote display and control of your Porsche. Features include: safety notifications, journey statistics, vehicle status, vehicle locator and now valet alert as well, to allow peace of mind when parking your vehicle.

Porsche Car Connect is available for Panamera (starting from model year 2014), 918 Spyder, Macan, Cayenne (model year 2014), 911 (991 Facelift), 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, and requires a Porsche Car Connect unit in your vehicle. The functionality of this app varies depending on your country of residence as well as on the options available in your vehicle.

You broke the app

The previous version to 1.17 worked after a fashion with my Panamera e-Hybrid Sport Turismo but now the reported fuel consumption is way out over what the car itself reports. Similarly with e-range. The app also reports the car is charged shortly before it is. In common with the previous version the app ignores attempts to put the car into transport mode for more than about 10 hours. The developer obviously hasn’t looked at ferries from the UK to Spain. School report: should do better! 🙁

Version 1.18 offers small bug fixings but the app is still misreporting my Panamera’s e-range and fuel consumption, numbers that it got right a couple of versions ago. This is basic stuff and calls into question the programmer’s competence!

Annoying design decisions & qwerks

Nice little app for the most part, but when it comes to the car tracking, it is very frustrating,
main map view will only display the whole! country! if in portrait mode, but if you switch to landscape, then you can zoom in to see where the car is. however, for some reason, 50% of the time, the app will not let you zoom in, it will let you start to, then it will zoom back out again to show the whole country.. very very annoying! fix it!, stop taking over and undoing MY zoom! Stop wasting my time! allow zoom in POTRAIT mode, and default to a USEFUL view of the cars position!

Ok edited. Latest version is now completely broken on the iPhone 7+. Adding support in that version for the iPhone X. Seem to have broken ALL other versions. Does anyone test this stuff?

App outdated and poor features

Please take a leaf out of BMW’s connected app which in my opinion much better. Combine both apps together in one. The app doesn’t even feature remote locking or unlocking which I think is really important. I’m not sure but I can stand to be corrected whether you can send a destination from you phone to the car automatically. The BMW features a lot more useful functions let alone its free for all the remote and safety services. Why should we pay extra for these standard features. The only thing we should pay for is the tracker which I agree with because it’s monitored.
