Excellent! Especially if you want to learn a language!

This app is absolutely great for getting online tutors. I’ve always been a bit sceptical about paying via online but have already paid for several lessons now and I guarantee, there are no payment issues.

The video call you do with the tutor is similar to most video calls. Most of the tutors share work books and exercises with you and are really good at going at your pace!

I am also quite and anxious person so speaking to someone I don’t know via a face chat was very nerve wracking at first but I found such a good tutor who put me at ease right away! I have been learning Korean; I am on my fourth lesson going onto fifth and can already read Hanguel! There are so many different language teachers as Well! So whatever language you want to learn it’s probably on here! It is also definitely a safe space if you’ve got a child /student who you want to make sure is safe as all tutors are verified.
It’s also great for adults who want to learn a new language!

If i were to score this app out of ten, it would be a 10/10!

Inconvenience caused

I’m quite annoyed with my tutor who decided she wanted to stop teaching classes suddenly despite me having booked 15 hours worth of classes with her (approx £184). She repeatedly cancelled classes last minute at times not informing me in advance that she can’t do a class or not communicating with me at all only leaving me hanging. This meant I accumulated a lot of hours since she would cancel the class on the platform. Upon raising this with the preply team requesting a refund one team member Serly first confirmed she can refund me money for 8 hours but then she later tells me she can’t because it’s been more than 28 days since I last paid for my subscription. She should have checked this before promising a refund as that’s poor customer service skills and disheartening once being promised something. The reason it had been so long since I last paid for my subscription was due to my tutor cancelling classes. I feel very disappointed with the tutor and this platform I was offered no compensation or good will gesture despite the inconvenience caused by both! Not really wanting to take further lessons I’m left with no choice but to use up those 15 hours with another tutor having to start from scratch with a new person seems like a waste of time and money.

COMPANY IS SET UP TO STEAL YOUR MONEY

DO NOT USE. I signed up in good faith. I chose a Tutor for my daughter. You have to buy a minimum of 4 lessons. You have to pay for the first lesson but they advertise it as free on the basis that you can get a refund if you are not happy. Good luck with that refund. Anyway I paid for 4 lessons. The tutor was only available during school holidays. I gave her my daughters holiday dates. We agreed dates for the 4 lessons. The tutor did one. Then today has said she can’t do the other lessons as she is going on holiday herself!! She is now not going to be available for my daughter until the next half term. 7 weeks away. I have been told I cannot get my money back because I have already used one lesson. So you are forced to pay for a minimum of 4 and then they cancel and keep your money. SCAM. How does this benefit my daughter? 1 lessons and then wait for another 7 weeks. I have asked to transfer the remaining funds to another tutor but you can only do this if the other tutor charges exactly the same amount. They all charge a different fee. This is 2022 in the UK.
