Rome Visit

Husband booked a city break for Christmas present and finally we made it. On the return home we visited the Plaza Premium Lounge at the Fiumicino airport.
Staff on approach were extremely hostile and turned us away as we had not booked. We put our name on the list for an hours time and went to explore another lounge within the airport which was miles away from our gate. Half way into this venture we decided to abandon this exercise and headed back toward the lounge where we witnessed 20 people leave at the same time. We had to plead with staff to let our 2 people party enter ahead of booking. Thankfully they obliged and we were permitted entry into this lovely spacious lounge with no more than 20 extra people in. We were happy but at the same time extremely frustrated with the people management as we were a grain of salt addition to the bodies already frequenting the establishment.
Once inside- the food was pleasant, staff were way more friendly. The alcohol came with an additional charge if you ventured outside of Wine, Sparkling wine or Beer- so options were limited. Overall a relaxed atmosphere with various lounging areas equipped with charging and power supply options.
Would happily use this place again, but keep in mind the staff on the door are a little precious and will take some haggling with to get inside!

An app for travellers that has no clue where you are

It is hard to believe, but the priory pass app, which is designed for people on the move to find things while they travel, completely lacks location awareness!

That means that when I am standing at Heathrow airport, the iPhone knows where I am, Facebook and foursquare know where I am, Google maps knows where I am, but priority pass is clueless.

When you open the app looking for a lounge at Heathrow airport, priory pass looks up at you with an innocent face saying "please sir, tell me which airport you would like to know about" :)

Developer Response ,

Hi Jay, thanks for your feedback. For a short time, the nearest lounge feature will not be available on the Priority Pass app, while we conduct some upgrades. We apologize for any inconvenience. Many thanks, Leah

Priority Pass loss of priority and loss of pass

At Stansted Airport and been told by a monosyllabic person at “Escape Lounge” that there was no room for priority pass members for at least one and a half hours Last time I travelled through Gatwick met with similar option and some months ago while travelling through Frankfurt for a connecting flight to Middle East was informed that only lounge available for Priority Pass members was in another terminal 25 mins to get there and 25 mins to get back Coincidentally at Botega Bar today sat beside a couple with similar grievances who told me that on a recent business trip had entered with PP to a “business lounge” hopping to work on lap top but found the lounge over run with screaming children and families all benefitting from a tour group incentive to access business lounge and thus found it more conducive to work in general lounge Priority Pass needs to get its act together if it wishes to justify continuing membership “benefits”
