What’s New

Version 13.3

Now you can capture exposure brackets with adjustable EV values – even in RAW and RAW+JPEG format. A new Exposure Bracketing button (EB) is displayed in Photo mode when M/SI is activated. This pro feature is available for ProCamera Up subscribers only.

However, dear non-Up-customers, this update brings something for everyone:

A free set of evergreen photo filters to give your photos that final touch.

When you take a photo of a document, you can use the new document enhancing filter to automatically optimize the contrast and make it ready for sharing or printing.

Vibrance and Hue tools for wide-ranging color adjustments. And last but not least, we have added new cropping formats: the 3:1 panorama format and 19.5:9 so you can create wallpapers for your new iPhone.

Two elegant new app icon styles.

Good but some workflow issues

Good camera app but some issues with file format work workflows.
I have an iPhone7Plus
I’d like to be able to
-shoot with the wide and tele lenses in raw
-shoot in hdr using heif
-shoot in the dual lens mode using heif

To do this I currently need to change the file format when I change between photo mode and hdr mode.
This makes the change a two step process, i.e. change to hdr then change to heif take image, change back to photo (which is now also set to heif) change back to raw. It can be a bit frustrating.

It would be good if the file format was sticky with photos, hdr and each of the lenses.

[why not just shoot photos in raw and hdr in jpeg (as this does not need manual changing of formats)? this is because even at highest quality the hdr files have a lot of jpeg compression artefacts in the deep shadows, whereas heif set to lossless is much better image quality]

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for pointing out these workflow details. What you are saying makes sense. Your feature request to save file format setting according to each camera and lens mode has registered with us and is taken into account.
Your vote towards implementation of such a feature counts. Thank you for suggesting it.
We are sorry to hear not all HDR photos turn out to your satisfaction.
Our developers have been working on remedying current issues of HDR mode and continue to look into solutions. Please bear with us for the time being. We’re on the case. Feel free to send sample photos to or via the customer service option in the app.

Excellent camera app, with additional processing features

Most camera apps are good at what they do. This one is not only excellent, it even allows you to edit your photos. There is a good set of filters and effects as well as sliders for exposure, colour, and sharpening, though no local contrast enhancement, and the highlight and shadow sliders only affect the photo in one direction each, i.e. darken the highlights and lighten the shadows. What there is in the editing section does the job well.

You get even more filters, a perspective auto-correct, and other future additions if you go for the subscription option, which is a low annual fee.

I may be greedy, but I'd like to see more done on the processing side. And if basic asset management could be added, such as keywording, titling, captioning, rating, and so on, including bulk application, all perhaps in a ProProcess app, I'd be blissfully happy.

Not bad. Low light not great. Subscriptions

I’ve been using this app for a month now and it’s generally highly regarded. I unlocked everything except the password protection and filters. Unfortunately now there is yet more paying to do if you want newer features going forward, via the horrible subscription model - yuck!

Hopefully they’ll also still offer one-time purchases to unlock new features as I’m definitely not paying a subscription just for a photo app. I’m not a Pro, just an ordinary user who wanted a more powerful camera than the standard with more manual control.

I need to get a tripod and try low light mode properly because so far it has only ever either given me super grainy night photos or frozen the app. Honestly, the standard built-in camera from Apple gives me better night shots. But, I’ll try a bit harder to see if I can get better results with this.

The editing tools are nice, but then again so are those in Camera+.

If you only want slightly more manual control than the default app, go with Camera+. It will easily be powerful enough.
If you want to go a little deeper, try this. But I can’t guarantee any real improvement.

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for your comment and appreciation for our work. Your view on the ProCamera Up subscription has registered with us.
You will continue to receive free updates and new features - even as a non-subscriber. Just new premium functions, such as Auto Perspective Correct, can only be unlocked by subscribing.
Additional features like Auto Perspective Correction
involve additional development cost.
A subscription model is the best fit for the ongoing cost of development and our high standard, since our users expect a high quality product that is kept up to date at all times.
For LowLight Plus, it is indeed important to use a tripod so you can get the benefit of long exposure mode. What you report might be related to system memory, but to make sure we fully understand your issue and give you correct advice, please send us a message via the customer support option in the support section of the app with all your requests. We are looking forward to receiving your message.
