Sort of works

the idea is great, connects easily to the playstation. however the connection is inconsistent and the display is inconsistent too. It works, but poorly. you have to continue to reconnect it, around every 5-10 mins, its not too much of a faff to do so but after a few times it can be irritating. When playing the display can be great but then it can be awful and cant make out what it says on the screen. it glitches and throws the game off, for example i can be watching a cut scene and i miss a line of what a character is saying, therefore ruins the experience of playing the game. the range it can take is decent, not bad, not great, its more expected, i didn't expect it to reach any further than it did. How easy it is to reconnect the iPad/phone back to the playstation does improve my opinion of the app, makes it easy to reconnect without having to run back and forth to my ps4. the idea is great, and i used it for a while, yes with interruptions but eventually i got used to it. I was able to play on my playstation away from my console and enjoy it to a degree. Great app, but doesn’t work so great. this app would do so much better if overall connection improved.

Great on PS5 no lag or problems running 720p resolution which was not the case with the PS4

I have a PS5 and it streams really well on a local connection at 720p and using my DualShock 4 on the app. Bluetooth is quick at sending buttons/input to the console locally. Sound steaming is top notch too. However on the PS5 you cannot see the bottom “nav” bar (with power options, switcher, etc.) when you press the PS button it is almost hidden by the apps GUI on screen. I tried turning off the overlays but it only hides the D-Pad and buttons. It should really turn off all GUI elements if you’ve specified this. It would also make it more immersive taking up all the space on the screen (I have a 12 Pro Max) rather than having a dark gradient at the bottom of the screen and some PS buttons/cog icon overlapping the on screen subtitles, gameplay and your own menu, etc. But other than that great job. I know this only works over “WiFi” (meaning 5G routers could be used) but if people have unlimited data plans surely this should be possible to use mobile data for on the go! e.g playing at a park or bench somewhere? I understand there could be NAT and other things at play here but should be doable and not limited to just Wifi. But thanks #Sony!

Okish

To be honest, i quite like the idea of having a remote play app for my Ps4 as i can just play from anywhere in the house close to my playstation on my phone. When you start the app, it says ‘This app can be used when far away from the playstation to play anywhere and anytime’ but i can only use the app at certain distances. I really think you should improve this, so that you can play with the controller on your phone. For this to work, i have an algorithm which could work; 1. Playstation can stay off
2. Have the app downloaded and sign into your PSN account
3. Put the controller into bluetooth connect mode(Playstation and share button at the same time(hold) and wait till flashing blue), then DS4 appears on screen and you tap it.
4. Choose your game to play, (use data for games that require WiFi if not connected to any) and play.

Some issues need fixing

I have been experiencing some issues with the app myself. I had to call PlayStation hardware and they said they can’t fix these issues unless I write my concern here.

The issues I’m experiencing is:

The controls don’t respond immediately and lags. It takes a few seconds for something to respond and sometimes goes a-bit crazy for example if I’m trying to scroll through different games, apps or I’m trying to select the home icon or log off it would go crazy and runs through the different icons or apps really fast until it stops.

Whenever I’m playing as a character in a game I would also have issues controlling them or moving the right camera joint stick around as it would go crazy and show me an awkward camera angle. If I was moving around my character it would sometimes go to a different direction or not move at the correct timing as I push the left joint stick. And if I wanted to press the other button it wouldn’t respond until It wants to. The screen goes a little bit blurry.

I have made sure to update the app on both devices. And I’m not very sure why this issue is happening since last year it been running very smoothly and well. There might have been tiny issues but it wasn’t that big of an issue.

The devices models I’m using is IPhone 13 Pro Max and IPad Air.

If some can fix these issues and come back to me about this please contact me here.

Remote play on ps4

I thought this would be great and it is!! Makes it better you can use ps controller on the iPad, In my house this works perfectly only with the odd drop of signal! You must have good internet speed well above 5, I work away from home and generally if the hotels have high speed internet it works great! Does also work really well iPad to iPhone 5g hot spot! But I don’t think people realise the WiFi has to be really good. This isn’t meant for a like for like gaming of the console. But I spent 5 hours at Gatwick airport last week and wifi so good I spent 5 hours playing Minecraft on my iPad !!!😂😂 definitely say this is the future and really good so some one like me as I can then play games with other my daughter when I’m away from home!

Great concept, poorly implemented

Holy moly, been waiting for something like this for ages, and lots of parts are great! It’s free, connects quickly, good quality - near perfect in that way. But what a shame it’s near unusable due to the awkward controller + sensitivity on mobile. Please please please bring DualShock support in, then it would be 5* - the phone/iPad/device should NOT be the controller. Really really this is the thing it’s missing, the dream would to play as normal and just stream to my phone/tablet. I think that’s what we were all expecting from this app, hopefully they’ll bring it in!

(Thank you Sony for taking steps in this direction though it’s great, make sure you at least try and implement it better than Xbox/Microsoft 👀)

Sounds amazing. Actually garbage.

Sounds like an awesome idea - remote in an play your PS4 from wherever, whenever! However it’s really only good for powering up the PlayStation, and then clumsily selecting something, and that’s while in the same house with an excellent wifi configuration. Certainly not possible to play any games or stream any moving image content.
Pairing the controller was easy and I can actually see that the response via my iPad to the PS4 is almost good enough to play a game, but it’s the huge delay on the video feedback which kills it.
Be warned that if your tv auto powers on when the PlayStation turns on you will confuse other residents in the house! Especially if you’re trying it from another time zone. I am off to Brazil this afternoon so was hoping to give it a go but don’t want it all to power on while I’m away.
Anyway. Cool idea, be sweet if in the future it’s a useable feature!

Good Concept, Bad connection

Overall, the idea of being able to use your phone to remotely control your PS4 sounds really good. But there are a few flaws with this such as the bad and unreliable connection you get when a few metres alway from the PS4 (even though it says that you can play anywhere, anytime.) For this to properly work it would have to have a good connection and fast speed to keep up with the PS4. I also think that certain phones (mostly older Phones etc.) can’t handle this app so it isn’t as accessible as it seems. Yes, “Remote Play” sounds great and all but you have to think practically about would the connection be strong enough

Remote Play Has Killed Audio on TV

So I tried the iOS remote play, having been a big fan of remote play on my Vita.
My issue is I can now only get audio on remote play!
I played with RP for five minutes immediately after downloading to my iPad, thought “that’s fun” then went back to my controller and started to play, only to discover that the TV is no longer receiving any audio. The iPad version still does, the Vita version still does, but my TV doesn’t. I hunted the menu on the PS4, but the audio options are threadbare, I search the limited menu options on both the iPad and Vita versions of remote play, but they make the PS4 menu look bloated! I tried a factory reset, to no avail. I’ve no idea what has happened, how to fix it and I’m bloody furious! I can’t now play any game on my PS4, with my TV, as I no longer have any audio. FIVE MINUTES WITH THIS APP HAS BRICKED THE AUDIO FOR MY PS4!!!!

i cant believe it!!!! ,

Awesome app 👍but...

I’ve tried the app and it’s great I’ve found that you have to make two accounts to use the one that you’d like says in description that it does not operate with daushock 4 and only is available with the mobile controls however that’s not true as it’s the complete opposite way around however they shouldn’t change that or maybe make the mobile controls work (as well) but overall a great app and my monitor doesn’t have to be on I can turn it off and use my phone I love this app I’ve been looking for a remote play app that was free to download and I’ve finally found one so
Thx so much for creating the app
Good job!👊✌️
