Description

Purple Tree is a visual analysis tool for your Mac's storage usage. Nested treemap display allows you to see all your large folders and files at a glance! You can visually compare sizes, locate the large files and even find and display duplicated files. It’s fast, beautiful and super handy!

The key features:

・Discover the largest files on your drive and get a clear idea of your folders structure.
・Identify files by content type (Pictures, Music, Movies etc.) using colors.
・Find recently changed files using the Date Modified color mapping.
・Find, display and manage duplicated files.
・Explore subfolders by zooming in and out. Get detailed information on selected items.
・Delete selected elements to free up disk space.
・Scan external drives located in the startup pane.
・Exclude disk locations you don’t want to scan to speed-up the scan process.
・Mark previously scanned folders as favorites.

Works beautifully; SpaceMonger/SpaceSniffer for the Mac

I’m a long time user of SpaceMonger and SpaceSniffer for Windows. Judging by conversations I’ve had with other PC users, these tools - the former of which is no longer being developed, the latter filling its shoes admirably - have become very widely known and very well regarded.

Strangely, where SpaceMonger was a paragon of unobtrusive UI design, most of the equivalent OS X utilities either make the mistake of cluttering the user interface with options and settings you just don’t need, or display information in such a way that the state of your drive is not immediately obvious. DaisyDisk for example presents its results in an ostensibly clever but at the same time rather pointless manner, and in so doing misses the point completely: tools such as this should focus on quick, clear, at-a-glance representation of drive use, not pretty pictures.

Having tried almost all of them now, Purple Tree is by far the easiest to install - thank you App Store - the easiest to use, the most clear in terms of information dispensed, and is also the closest to achieving the simple clarity of the original Windows tools. It’s well worth the money.

Exceptionally Useful!

Able to nail down quickly and easily what were space-hogs on my hard drive, giving a brilliant visual structure of size showing problem areas! Fantastic for the price! 79p is worth it!

Great application, perfect for finding space!

This is a great application that gives a quick and easy view of what is taking up space on your hard drive. Highly recommended!
