Radioplayer is the official radio app for the UK, backed by the BBC and all the major independent broadcasters. It’s simple to use, with some powerful features which will help you enjoy radio even more…
- Colourful new ‘My stations’ dial, so it’s easy to find your favourites
- Notifications to remind you about new episodes of your favourite shows
- Powerful search and recommendations, to help you discover new radio
- ‘Wrong Way Driver’ technology, to alert you to motorway dangers
- Voice control to skip safely through your favourite stations while driving
- Great new Apple CarPlay integrations, for in-car use
Radioplayer sounds great on high-quality speakers, because we offer hi-fi streams direct from broadcasters, which other apps can't access. And when you’re on the move, Radioplayer switches to mobile-friendly streams so you don’t use so much data.

Just works perfectly
Of all the radio player apps I've tried, including the specific apps for specific stations, this is the only one that has worked flawlessly. I can find all the uk stations I want and they very very very ever drop and tbh that's probably more likely my signal where I work.
I specifically like one little feature which never works on any other apps ive tried is that they work flawlessly with AirPods! When I pause or remove a pod when I double tap/ put the pod back in, the app starts again as it would the music player, every other app I use freaks out when you pause/ take a pod and you have to use the phone to start again. It's a small thing but my favourite .
I would like then to add world radio support in the future 😎
Best UK radio app.
I’ve tried all the generic type of radio player apps over the years. This is by far the best I’ve come across. It’s totally free with no subscriptions ! It offers Apple Watch functionality too. It’s so user friendly to use and encompasses everything I’m looking for in a radio player app. When you download the app it will use your location to set your local radio stations. I live in the UK and this app picks up all the radio stations I’m looking for.
I would thoroughly recommend this app to anybody living in the UK.
What happened 2 days ago...?
This app was a 5 star, but something happened and it is now a 2 star for me. Hence the three star.
What I lived was that used to be able to click in radio 4, and then go to “more” on radio 4, and see previous programmes that I could choose from, especially important when I can’t sleep. Now it has changed, and I cannot see “more” so am stuck in real time, with no choice on this app of previous programmes. This was so useful for catching up on the today programme or various news programmes, or even a play from earlier.
Please tell me this “more” function is still here and how to find it? If it has gone, is there another app that does this? Sounds is Greta but it doesn’t give you any idea of the previous programmes on the same day or enable you to hear them. If it has gone, then for me this is no longer a very useful app.
Developer Response ,
Hi, thanks for taking the time to post a review. You can still see the latest shows from Radio 4 by going to their station screen.
And you can also search for a catchup show you like, then set it as a favourite. You can choose to be notified each time a new episode arrives.
