Rayo - Radio, Music, Podcasts 12+

I write this, after reading a few other reviews and I agree with them.. I think it’s still under development. Don’t really understand why the main app (I use Kiss) is pushing this app all the time. Reason I say it is it’s not fully developed and missing so much, that the main kiss app has. There’s no sleep timer, there’s no car mode / car play etc.
It has great potential however. I see that all the premium stations are there, and after logging in with my Kiss details the premium content does unlock too.
A few things I’d like to see however the front screen lets you add 6 stations for easy access - however these are limited in choice and the offering that’s their I’m not a huge fan off.. it would be better if we can select one of the many stations from the list (Kisstory 80’s, relax with jazz, absolute 90’s etc) to let it play and have a button to make it one of the 6 “preset” buttons on Home Screen instead.

It also asked me what genre I liked, but suggested stations I hasn’t chosen in that genre.

Lastly I entered my postcode but decided to tune into somewhere further away.

Anyway, hope these issues will be addressed and fixed. Hopefully the rest of the station apps won’t close until the features are here too?

I downloaded Rayo hoping for a decent British radio app, but it's been a nightmare from the start. This app barely functions—it constantly crashes, and when it does stay open long enough to do anything, the streaming quality is awful, with constant buffering and dropouts. It’s almost like the developers forgot to test it before releasing it.

To make matters worse, after installing Rayo, my phone started acting up. My battery began draining rapidly, and I noticed weird pop-ups and sluggish performance that weren’t there before. After a bit of digging, I discovered that this app has malware lurking in it. My antivirus flagged it immediately, and I had to do a full reset to get my phone back to normal. This kind of thing shouldn’t be happening in 2024!

It’s clear this app is in the very early stages of development, and honestly, it should never have been released to the public in its current state. There’s no excuse for pushing out a product this unfinished and unsafe. Do yourself a favor and avoid this app until the developers sort it out—if they ever do.

Firstly let’s make it clear. I love the radio stations. This is purely about the app.
Issues- can’t leave app open in background and reopen later- you get an error message have to close the app totally and then reopen it.
Local radio areas play local news but you have to listen to all the ads for London. I live in Herefordshire so not sure why i want to know about deals in Watford!
The recent rename from free radio to hits radio was madness. All the voice assistants (I use Siri and Alexa) cant differentiate between hits radio and greatest hits radio so when I ask for hits radio it always goes to greatest hits radio.
Connection is unstable to Rayo server. Even in a 5g area the app loses connection. Finally. Unable to pause the station using headphones controls so if I’ve got headphones on and I need to talk to someone I have to dig my hone out. I used to use the free radio app without issue. This app is being pushed hard by Rayo stations but maybe they need to make sure it works properly first. !!
