Description

This groundbreaking app uses high resolution micro-CT scan data of real teeth. The data has been collected and processed by two university academics, who used 3D reconstruction techniques to allow the external and internal structures of the teeth to be explored in 3D in great detail.

The app also contains a guide to the morphology and features of the teeth, with 3D demonstrations of how they relate to the tooth in question. A major advantage of using real teeth is that many show interesting and unusual features, which would be seen on dental patients. These can be explored and are explained through an interactive guide.

Protruding root

This app is going to be very useful in helping me prepare cavities and understand where roots lie. Thank you for providing this however there seems to be a problem on the 16 and 26, the root looks distorted and protruding out the enamel it looks like a floating lump of root, I was wondering if this could be updated and removed ? It's very distracting when working on this tooth. Thanks

Highly Recommeded for Dental students and professionals.

After navigating my way around the dentition with relative ease, it was not before long to zoom in/out and rotate the individual teeth easily. This application makes simple but effective use of the multi-touch gestures that the iPhone was built for.
The information is displayed in an organised and concise manner, allowing a quick reference to the tooth, root, surface, pulp and important dates (such as initial calcification).
Although the concept of zooming through the dentition and seeing a tooth and it's corresponding inner and outer structure in detail has been done before (with similar information), the attention to detail in the image quality is where this application stands out. The 3D imaging helps develop a realistic image of the 'normal' tooth which will be especially useful in direct/ indirect restorations and novice users of CADCAM technology (such as CEREC).
This application is highly recommended for students wishing to develop their natural knowledge of root canals as well as their creative 'eye' for tooth morphology. However it is also practical for qualified professionals who strive in having accurate knowledge conveniently at their fingertips without the need to find and remove the dust off their morphology books.
