Best app for traditional painters

This is the app to get if you are used to real traditional media painting but don’t want to learn the Photoshop-like controls of most digital media.
These are brushes that mimic their real-world counterparts and cannot be tweaked other than for size. This is a great strength! Instead of getting bogged down endlessly tweaking and fussing, you just pick your brush and paint. Try not to use every tool and colour available in a single painting — as in real life, a limited set of tools and colours provides more harmonious effects.
The app has some little niggles — stops working sometimes and needs a restart, the colour mixing in the palette is buggy and a bit of a mystery to me. The brush names are too small to read —although beautifully rendered — perhaps you could put them into the preview movie?
I would love to see more step-by-step tutorials, and perhaps a revamped particle-based watercolour engine like Rebelle? But that would be a major upgrade.
This is better than Procreate for thick paint effects with no fussing.

Awesome

It’s awesome and I love the way it works alongside the PC version. The only drawback I see at the moment finger gestures trying to rotate with two fingers and 10 rotate with three fingers. I’m trying to zoom in zoom out and it’s very intermittent. I’ve also recently noticed that the undo button will not button the undo icon when tapping that doesn’t undo. Than that an absolutely brilliant application and like I said I love working with it. I’ve also bought the PC version I like to be able to work on the PC when I’m at the desk I save the file and I’m then able to export it to my iCloud folder and then when I wanna sit on the sofa all the way in bed and wanna finish off my drawing I can then pick up my iPad go into my iCloud folder and open it up from there and just carry on. I absolutely love the program it’s brilliant I could see if I was talking about it but I’m not going to let you find everything out for yourself but it is a brilliant package and I would totally totally totally suggest buying it Well done the devs and please keep going with it. It’s got so much that you can do with it, just just keep working on it. Thank you.

A really great piece of software!

I have tried just about all the software and apps for drawing and painting both for PC and iPad. There are many good ones - some even brilliant. However all fall down on one or more crucial points. Realistic Paint Studio, for me, is the best of the lot. Don’t be put off by what might appear to be a patronising approach to ‘realistic’ interface. In practice in works really well and I am very comfortable with it. I find it to be the only piece of software (with the possible exception of Rebelle) that feels like traditional painting. Watercolour with RPS can be neat and precise but most of the brushes also give that watery and slightly uncertain feel. There is no real fluid flow, except for the ink bottle, but it feels like it because the brushes are so interactive and responsive to pressure. I hope this app becomes really popular and that the developer continues development because there are some relatively small improvements that would make it even better.
