PRE-ORDER NOW - the Manic Miner® app - a perfectly formed replica of the much-loved game with 3D voxel-style graphics. Search the App Store for “the Manic Miner® app”. This is the official companion app to the Recreated ZX Spectrum - the only authorised, full-size recreation of the 1980s personal computer... the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. The three most significant ZX Spectrum games of all, ‘Chuckie Egg’, Jet Set Willy’ and ‘Manic Miner’ ... are exclusive to the Recreated ZX Spectrum. At launch, this Recreated ZX Spectrum companion app (and the online web app - which is available at RecreatedZXSpectrum.com) will include, ‘Chuckie Egg', 'Sinclair BASIC' (so that owners can learn to and write computer programs with the recreated device) and a huge game bundle. More games and applications will be available with each update of the apps (and the online web app). Yet more games and applications will be available from 3rd-party vendors. More bandwagon jumping by Elite?

Bit coincidental that on the week the spectrum reaches 35 years old and the Spectrum NEXT receives 250k of crowd funding and is on all the major news sites that Elite decide to put this app back on the store. Wonder if the developers will get paid for the game sales this time around? Oh and a bit about the app itself. Limited number of games available, broken promises of packs being added regularly, and better spectrum emulators availableUpdate: you can’t even use it on an iPhone to unlock your keyboard because a pop up keyboard which cannot be removed covers the unlock button.

The app is great, also has pixel filter option to get a more 80s (lightly blurry) screen effect.The app and they keyboard reproduce the ZX perfectly (this means you need to know the ZX before you can enjoy this app at the fullest).The only thing I wish they would add is rotating screen on the main interface as well as a "go back" button to make it simpler to change games.Some review reported that Jetset Will stays on loading screen forever, this because the user haven't tried to press ENTER button on the loading screen etc... So if you had an original ZX this app (and the keyboard) is definitely what you want. But, if you never owned a ZX, then you probably want to go for some other emulators with commands on screen and such to help non ZX users.

No "restore purchases" option

The app itself seems to work fine - not as attractive an interface as Spectaculator, but functional. But after spending a lot of time looking, and an unanswered email to customer service, I can't find an option to restore purchases anywhere. So after I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, it seems I'm expected to buy any games that I purchased previously. Luckily I had only bought a couple of games, but it still seems pretty unacceptable to me.

So after I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, it seems I'm expected to buy any games that I purchased previously. I hoped my original review back in sept 15 would be wrong....but...people feel ripped off, paying twice for games , no updates , no founder machines , no more games.....buyers completely bomb jacked by elite and Mr Wilcox all over again..Sept last year....After paying for these exact games twice already via yet another elite app incarnation...I feel slightly ripped off...so lets home these versions don't go the same way...hope springs eternal elite....

This update from Apple will improve the functionality of this app. No new features are included. - Increased the number of Load / Save slots for games and programs from 4 to 20. - Added a feature enabling Load / Save slots to be individually named, for improved identification. - Added a News page feature to the home screen. (Information about what's included in future updates of the app(s) will appear here first.) - Consolidated the previously existing home screen features.
