Amassing a mountain of empties you want to recycle but don’t know how to? Our recycle:me initiative aims to offset the impact of beauty obsession by processing typically tough-to-recycle materials.

The beauty industry is one of the key contributors to landfill every year, which compromises our land, our oceans and our atmosphere. recycle:me is by no means a 'cure all', but if all of us make minor changes, together we can make a difference.
HOW YOU CAN MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT
Materials received will be repurposed into strong, durable plastic boards to make in-demand end-products such as tables, benches, chairs... you name it! They can also be refashioned into excellent building materials for sustainable housing projects.

Sign up to recycle:me to have your hard-to-recycle beauty empties manufactured into something new and be rewarded for your efforts!
Upload images of your products and we’ll check them for eligibility. Once you have at least 5 approved empties, parcel them up and book a free collection from your doorstep (we only accept a maximum 2 fragrance items per shipment or deposit).
Ship 5 approved empties and we will issue a choice of Cult Beauty or LOOKFANTASTIC loyalty points direct to your Cult Beauty or LOOKFANTASTIC
Reward Make sure you sign up using your Cult Beauty or LOOKFANTASTIC registered account email to receive your loyalty points!

Customer Service is poor
So the scheme has decided to cut the rewards you can receive per month in half. It used to be 8 drop off per month that was approved for rewards but in April this will go to 4. The wording is vague about drop offs. It says per calendar month but doesn’t say that the creation of the drop off has to be in the same calendar month. The customer service is horrendous. They have no idea about talking to customers and will just stop responding when you ask to speak to THG. They cannot be bothered and have a terrible attitude which is a pity because the scheme in theory is good. There’s limited options in choosing form and no way to get help with rejections as I sent an email that was never responded to.

It takes a while to get used to uploading items and I got a few rejected at first but I just re submitted under different categories and I soon got the hang of it. My daughter and I love beauty and make up but bin so many items because they can’t be recycled so this is great it’s items like perfume bottles, compacts, lip balms, tester sizes, sprays, mascaras etc. We regularly get £5 vouchers for cult beauty and look fantastic, so happy to recycle and get a reward also!
Edit: reduced my stars as now they’ve changed the scheme limiting vouchers and you need a load to get just one so not sure it’s worth the hassle now?!

Great concept of an app but when your phone number/postcode has a 0 in it, the app doesn’t register it as a postcode because it sees the letter O and number 0 as the same thing.
