Reference Tracker is an indispensable tool for writers, researchers or students. Reference Tracker helps you keep track of publications you cite or make reference to in an essay or research project, and creates formatted reference lists and bibliographies.
- Create Full References In A Single Step
With Reference Tracker's Publication Lookup, all you need is an ISBN or DOI to create a full reference in your documents. If you don't have the ISBN or DOI to hand, Reference Tracker's Publication Search will find books and articles by title, author and other key terms.
- Generate Formatted Reference Lists
Generate a formatted reference list with a single click. Reference Tracker has the latest versions of the most popular styles, including Harvard, APA, Chicago, MLA, ACM and Vancouver. Formatted lists are fully editable in Reference Tracker's rich text editor and you can export your lists to Microsoft Word, Rich Text, Plain Text, HTML, BibTex and RIS formats.
- Create and Share Custom Reference Styles
Reference Tracker has a really easy to use styles editor so you can create your own custom styles, or modify any existing styles. Even better, you can share your styles with one click, meaning you can also download and use styles shared by other users.
Fixed a bug that caused ISBN Lookup and Book Search to timeout.

Essential for researchers
This is a must for anyone studying in an academic environment. The amount of time it has saved me over the past few years at university cannot be quantified. Far more user friendly than Endnote, quicker to load and has a whole lot of intuitively designed useful features. Every assignment at university needs a correctly formatted reference list, and it amazes me that people do not know apps like this exist (why would you do it manually!?)
Well worth the money considering the time it saves. Used alongside Readcube you can quickly manage articles, references and produce reference lists so easily.
Saves hours and hours
This does exactly what I need it to, i.e. take the slog out of putting together bibliographies. I have used its data and reports with two (English) universities with absolutely no problem. Looking up ISBNs or other details is made easy. Several formats for listings are available. The whole thing just works!
not so great
This app is really good at generating a reference list for the end of the document, but it does not allow you to add references as you write your assignment in real time. For example, if I use the Vancover style system and decide to add a reference not already in the body of my text, then I have to go in an manually change all the numbers in the references I have already transferred over, as it will not do this automatically. Also, if I use the Harvard system and have two references with the same name and date, it will not number these in the body of the text to deferentiate. This was a very expensive mistake for me to make!
