Description
As an extension of your paper tablet, the reMarkable desktop app lets you view, organize, and present your content with Screen Share. Tap into your notes from anywhere.
Expand your reMarkable universe:
Make sure to pair your paper tablet with an account at my.remarkable.com before logging in to the app. Find login details for both in Account settings on the paper tablet.
Get organized:
Use the app to create folders for collecting notebooks and files by different topics. Save one for each project, or separate your work and personal notes.
Keep track of all your work with tags. Use them to categorize documents, ebooks, or single pages. This will help you find and arrange the content on your paper tablet with Search.
You can also remove clutter by deleting any digital paper that has piled up.
Bring your paperwork with you:
- All of your content, always available.
- Import PDF and EPUB files, either with the Import button, or drag and drop.
- Use Screen Share to visualize your ideas in color on a big screen or in video meetings.
- Export to PDF, PNG, or SVG to change the file format of something you’ve sketched or written.
Take focused notes, anywhere:
Make your ideas easier to refine and share on the go. Our cloud storage service allows you to sync your content and pick up right where you left off on your paper tablet.
The selection tool lets you move, rotate, scale, or delete handwritten notes or sketches, making it easy to clean up your notes before sharing.
Use the app to create new notebooks or quick sheets, and add blank note pages to existing documents.
Type pages of notes, or quickly write out shorter lists to review and annotate later on your reMarkable.

Convert to text: (Connect feature)
Use handwriting conversion on selected notes or whole pages, just like on your paper tablet. When using the selection tool to convert, text is now pasted immediately rather than being saved to the clipboard.

Invaluable aid
I find this a great way to review my reMarkable notes when the tablet isn't immediately to hand.
The speed of the sync, and the generally intuitive UI make it very quick and easy to edit or add to notes when required.
The reMarkable team regularly update the application, so it has gained features over time too. I could wish that it was possible to search in handwritten notes, but I can understand that they need to be converted to typed text first. Otherwise this does everything that I need.
Limited Usability
I have been using (now several) Remarkable tablets since the beginning as a crowfunder. While the tablets still offer distinct advantages over their competitors, the app conistently failed to live up to its potential. I have rarely used it in all these years, since the is little benefit to integrating it into the workflow. In contrast to the tablet, the app does not benefit from a connect subscription since it does not integrate any cloud services. The option to edit typed documents could have opened up significant potentials that remain unexploited. I am not talking about proprietary formats, but why does neither the app nor the tablet support markdown? The integration of other cloud services and the ability to modify markdown documents would allow to use Remarkable notes in conjunction with other software like Obsedian which would mean a true benefit. But like this, the app remains a gimmick.
Fantastic for therapists and others who make written notes
And for this reason would be even better with additional security!
This is great for making quick clinical notes and reading papers/making notes.
Also helpful for quickly sketching out an idea and then being able to print for the client.
