The best pixel art editor
This is the best pixel art editor that I have ever used and I have tried several on the app store and none of them have impressed me as much as this one has. As a developer myself, the user interface is wonderful, easy to navigate and fully customisable. I have been using this app almost every day since I have downloaded it and it has changed my life and made everything so much easier. It has all the same features as Aseprite and procreate which is exactly what I was looking for!! There has been no input delay, it works great and I haven’t had any issues. Well done to the developers, this is seriously an underrated game changer.
Probably the best iPhone & iPad pixel art app
Asprite has been saying they’ll do an iPad version for years but it never happened. Someone had to get around to it eventually and Resprite is essentially a remake of it. It doesn’t have every feature Aseprite does but it has most of the ones that matter and it works great.
There’s a few browser based game engines with mobile layouts these days so with this and a site or app for making music quickly, you could make a game entirely on your phone or tablet now.
Sprite sheets, layering and frames for animating are all in there and the controls are pretty easy once you take a quick look at the controls. Tap 2 fingers to undo, 3 to redo and hold your finger down to use an eye dropper tool for picking a colour from the canvas. Some of those are changeable too.
With the iOS release of this, buying the app once gets you the app for this and iPad OS. iPad with an Apple Pencil is the best way to experience the app by far but the touch controls work well and if you’re travelling light, you can get some pixel art done anywhere.
Almost pixel perfect !
This is pretty much game over for any other iOS pixel art app. Anybody who uses desktop app Aseprite will find this like a little slice of heaven. Very configurable and works like a dream with Apple Pencil. Great for designing your next games sprites and tiles when you don’t want to be tied to desk , even then I’m happy to use this instead.
