Of the dozens of apps I’ve got this is the best. Use it constantly and was easy to set up. I’ve moved on to a different rota but can still see my old one which is really useful. Always get a reply when I send a query and comments are taken on board.

What’s New
Version 7.9
Cloud support is coming to Rota Calendar and this update brings some underlying changes to allow that to happen.
The changes are quite significant but shouldn’t affect any behaviour of the app. You shouldn’t notice any differences other than the items listed below.
Other fixes and improvements in this update include:
- Dropped iOS 13, minimum supported version is iOS 14.
- Fixed issue with Calendar Permissions not carrying across to iOS 17.
- AirDrop has temporarily been disabled as some breaking changes introduced with iOS 17 caused it to stop working. Any fixes tie in with cloud work so AirDrop will be reinstated soon.
- Improved appearance of date/time pickers.
- Confirmation dialog with message before clearing Rota pattern.
- Bottom toolbar is always shown by default. This can be changed via iOS Settings -> Rota Calendar.
Ratings and Reviews
Very Disappointed
I see all the reviews saying that this is an excellent app and I would have agreed up until now. I believe that there has been an upgrade? Good, but that should not have wiped out existing customers. I have lost everything and now just get a white screen when I log on. This should not have happened as I paid for a product like new customers will. Is this going to happen again if I purchase the new version!!
Easy to set up and use
I was using iPlanner for years before it decided to have a wobble and stop working recently. Since then I have downloaded and tried all of the free shift planners with little success. They all worked ok but felt ‘clunky’ and did not integrate with iOS calendar. I decided to bit the bullet and pay for one and this one had good reviews throughout.
It is easy to use, easy to set up and allows you up to 5 separate shift patterns so good if you have a partner that does shifts and friends on different patterns. I had a small issue with setting up my particular pattern and emailed the developer. Jamie replied very quickly and explained how to sort my issue. I now have my shifts set up until 2028 after about 10 minutes effort in total and that includes adding some odd shifts that cannot be included within a set parameter.
I was quickly able to send these to my partner once she had added the app to her phone and airdropped straight across.
Only thing that could make this better is the ability for this app to copy into the main iOS calendar. It does it the other way (I.e anything you add to your iOS calendar copies in to the shift calendar) but it would be hugely convenient to have this the other way round so it can be shared with others. Very minor boggle and one which I am assured is on the ‘to-do’ list of the developer. Once this is done it will be a 5 star app.
All in all a very simple app to set up and adjust and well worth the £1.99 price.
Bring back Airdrop!
I use this App almost daily and definitely a must have for myself. Whilst it doesn’t get updated regularly it isn’t a concern for me as the basic functions and functionality have worked near perfect and not sure what else I could ask for. Although the last update removed Airdrop and it was said it would be coming back, it’s been several months now and we’re still waiting, please update and bring that feature back. Other than that, I don’t have any other issues and would recommend the App.
