Royal Game of Ur (AG‪)‬ 4+

Like a lot of other players I discovered Ur from Irving’s video. Having the app is great for learning the rules. I could only think of 2 small improvements: sound effects would be nice, plus a little pile of stones not yet in play. Otherwise, brill!

The sound effects are on the to-do-list. Next update will focus on improving the interface and the graphics so it won't be in this one, but it is definitely coming.
I work alone, so I have to prioritize sadly.
The pile of stones could look good! I'll need to see if there is a space for it in the new update, but I'll think about adding it !

Sorry but this game is absolutely riddled with problems, I will break down the bugs/issues below:

It is not possible to add someone as a friend and play them without both starting a match and timing it right (what is the purpose of a friend feature if you can’t add anyone)

50% of the games cannot be completed due to networking faults (my friend on the phone will tell me they’ve played and it isn’t visible on my side)

For some reason my friend will have the first role 100% of the time, there is no way to choose who is white or black

Another annoyance is, why can’t my opponent see my fancy dice when I roll? What’s the point of these cosmetics if I can’t show them off.

Why can my opponent only see what I roll AFTER I’ve played my turn and not when the dice have rolled

And I don’t know why the developer is telling us they have covid, it makes us want to socially distance from the game.

-There are indeed a few issues with the server at the moment that affect matchmaking and friend invites. It should be ready with the next update. In the meantime, send me an email with your username and your friend's and I'll update your friendlists manually (sullivan.bousiniere@gmail.com)


-Black/white are decided based on the player ID when using matchmaking. If you use this to play against your friend this way, you will indeed always be player 2. Playing using the friend system should fix this. It is a system I haven't touched in awhile, I'll revisit it when I can to improve this.

-Cosmetics limitations : Having the dice change each turn would be a bit jarring. The next update is a complete rework of the UI and most game systems so it will let me do a lot of things that were impossible before. If you have suggestions, don't hesitate to contact me directly.


-Dice after move. It is an old limitation that will be lifted in the next update. The dice will appear when they are rolled.


-Regarding Covid, I warned players because I work alone and was in no state to answer emails, reviews and bug reports (I get a lot of them every day from all around the world). So I thought it best (and I still do) to let players know that they wouldn't get an answer right away if they contacted me. I am better now, so the message will disappear.
And don't worry : you can't catch it by playing ;)

What a wonderfully gripping, and deliciously vicious game this is. Cannot put it down, and this version on my iPad looks great and plays super smoothly. I would love to know if I can buy an ad free version? I’m sure time will tell, but I seem to have unlocked a new board, but can’t work out how to find it, but the basic board is just lovely. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi, welcome to ancient gaming. It is a rabbit hole : once you start, you can never stop ahah.
You can remove the ads in the Market (from the Menu, the three horizontal lines at the bottom left of the screen) and you can access your unlocked collectibles from the Vault (also in the Menu).
