Rummikub 4+

I love this game and pretty much play it every day against my girlfriend. We’ve both become pretty excellent and generally win against any bot and most humans. You don’t have to buy coins. You can literally win millions of them just by being good. When we are not playing each other we play single player games on 60 seconds per turn. 30 secs is too short to play properly. All in all this game is excellent. The only rubbish thing is the amount of players at the top levels of the game who have a strategy of hoarding all of their tiles until the very end - not putting a single tile down until there are three tiles left. It is very boring. These people ruin the enjoyment of the game.

Update of review below: having played over 4,600 games of this, am fed up of rigged tiles/ rigged games. I love the original board game, however the mathematical probabilities of receiving 5, 6, 7 pairs of duplicate tiles over and over simply do not add up (out of two sets of 52 tiles) which even happens if just two players. “They” allow you to win lower value games, but rarely the 5,000 or 10,000 coin games. Over and over I cannot make my first move, having garnered 29 tiles or such, whilst the other “robot” players are down to 1 or 2 tiles each. Also the speed a “robot” opponent can move and manipulate 10 tiles in last second is outlandish cheating.

Love the original board game, jumped at chance to play via app however some pesky bugs lurking. When playing game after game have found intrusive musical accompaniment annoying, even with button for sound off mode. I like to listen to the countdowns, but musical accompaniment comes and goes of its own accord. At one point a smaller sized tile hit my rack for a split second then disappeared before I could do anything, and suddenly my turn was gone. I had not requested a tile. When games decides just two players, the countdown and request for a tile gets out of synch as it goes so fast. There have been times when I place tiles on board, only for whole turn to be disallowed. When my turn comes around again I do the exact same moves, and that time it is accepted.

Rummikub, the board game, is possibly the BEST game there is. This massively contradicts the cheap and rigged online version. Obviously, its impossible to win every time but for a game to be rigged and the odds to be stacked against you, it is no longer fun. By this, I mean, having to wait 10 minutes for a useable deck, I can understand that happening often, but every time, really? And after this point, the game has already concluded! I personally would not recommend this game. I mean, come on!, if you are going to develop a game, at least make it useable. Not only are the online players, who you can join a game with, rude and impatient (when playing, consistently using the 😡 face and the “ Please make a move” button) but cheating is also allowed. In the board version, the face (allowing the player to choose the value) must be replaced with the desired value, however in this game, anyone is able to click and move the square. How is that possible!? You made the rules, so stick by them! So, to anyone reading this, please AVOID this game, press BACK, and choose another game. Avoid this power sucking, money wasting, rigged so-called game!
