The Scotland Starts Here app connects visitors to the South of Scotland. Connecting people to places makes for a more memorable experience and helps people experience, not just observe – it is our culture! We want you to be part of who we are and what we do, we want you to feel local and immerse yourself in our destination. Let us bring it alive.
The South of Scotland has a distinctive and Scottish personality. Whatever Scottish experience visitors are looking for, they can find it here. Best of all, they can enjoy it within easy reach of the major cities of Scotland’s central belt - and it’s also easy to reach from the cities of the North of England.
We have created interactive routes, maps and itineraries to navigate you through this hidden gem of destination and we bring it alive through songs, myths, legends and narrated guided tours. Our routes and itineraries cover routes including walking, driving, cycling, equestrian and Borders Railway. You are able to select routes that are of individual / group interest or create your own. There is no better way to explore this destination – showcasing all the best places to stay, eat, visit and enjoy.

The Scottish Borders unlocked
Great new app for exploring the Scottish Borders. Worth spending a bit of time getting the hang of it - there’s a lot going on - but this helps unlock the previously overlooked borderlands of southern Scotland and makes it a lot easier to plan a stay.
Tip: the tours are good but you need to click on the View Our Map button and then use the Filter button to get the most out of the app. That lets you search for accommodation, attractions, food and drink etc by location.
Extremely comprehensive
The creators of this App have really done their homework.
I live in the south of Scotland, so I had a look around the App to see what it told me about my local area.
I was very impressed.
Sure, it doesn’t include everything, but if I was a visitor coming to the area, it really would be worthwhile having.
I’m looking forward to using it in parts of the south which are less familiar to me.
Easy 5 stars. 🙂
Amazing app to explore this part of Scotland
So great to have a tool that can easily show where to go, what to do and sample itineraries. Love it. Love the audio..: makes you want to explore more and get to know about this amazing part of Scotland!!
