Must be improved

Where to start with this, after putting in approaching 30 scores this year I’m well placed to comment and as a software developer arguably better still.

The app regularly looses players scores, utterly infuriating when cards have not been in regular use.

The app can make it impossible to select the correct tees on sone courses with the tee selection manes being truncated onto a single line making it impossible to see the end of the liberal

No ability to request deletion of scores which leads into multiple insertions of the same score. I currently have 2 duplicates , my playing partner got 6 in the last few days.

Overall the basis of the functionality is there but it really needs to be polished but more importantly it needs to be made reliable as the frustration of using the app at the moment is very high

Poor

Great idea and the functionality it is supposed to offer is great but unfortunately the app itself is incredibly poor.

User interface is difficult to navigate, layout confusing and gps in caddie mode is far worse than other apps that offer gps positioning / distances.

All these would be tolerable, but the main issue is with using the app for general play score submission. I’ve tried four times with one success (and that after I’d had to go back into caddie mode after signatures so that it woke the gps back up). Two of the failures gave the unhelpful message “auth error, contact your club” and the third gave “date error”. In all three, the scorecard was lost forever and penalties added.

The whole gps based verification for submitting scores is a terrible idea that’s been terribly implemented. It’s not going to stop anyone who wants to cheat the system (they can still simply mark the wrong numbers!) and just means lots of unfair penalties based on software glitches and bugs. Ditch it.

Very poor user interface

This is quite possibly the most frustrating app I’ve used in a long time. Simple things are cumbersome and the developers need to spend time with end users to iron out the design issues. I’ve lost scores, been unable to book a tee time for a competition and generally find the app hard to navigate. Why the caddie functionality is separate to the scoring is beyond me. If the developers want to look at a decent golf app they should take a look at the likes of Hole19. It’s easy to use and works reliably.

I’ve worked in the IT industry for over 30 years. Goodness knows how a non-IT person gets on with it.
