Needs internet, unlike rivals

I like playing this online with FaceBook, but Wordsolver has a similar board & can be played offline, either against the computer, or with another player. Another disadvantage, to me, is that you can’t check a word is valid, without Scrabble Mattel actually playing it- no option to check it, before deciding to play it (without using other checking Apps). And with grid words- you’ve to add up the score yourself.
I use a checking App which combines Scrabble uk with Collins uk scrabble dictionary. Sometimes such words aren’t valid with Scrabble Mattel, which is frustrating - I’m yet to determine which authority they’re using.
The free App has long adverts after each move, but just flick them off and re-open, & you can keep playing.
Otherwise, it’s a stable App, with chat available via Messenger. This is lovely if you wish to socialise while you play.
I like the ‘Shuffle’ function, the zoom in & out, the ‘Recall’ bringing letters back down to your rack, choice of colours & size, the ‘Nudge’ option- a gentle reminder to your opponent that it’s their turn. Pretty pleased overall, thanks.

Search words feature should be altered

If you can search words before playing, you should certainly be able to see their definitions along with whether or not they’re playable! There should be more emphasis on learning the definitions of the words rather than simply being able to scrabble (!) together a collection of letters that form an eligible play in the game.

Other than that, the app is functional, fast, and has a lot of useful and fun features, such as the chat, playing online with friends of your choice, and the teacher tab at the bottom. The adverts get close to being excessive, but they’ve been placed in harmony with the turn-taking nature of the game, which means that they’re less obtrusive than they would be otherwise.

Edit: especially in conjunction with the search words feature, it’s slightly annoying how many seemingly gibberish or quasi-words are allowed; “quai”, the French spelling of “quay”, for instance, pushes it.

Improvement needed to match board game

I enjoy Scrabble the game and the app isn’t bad, but it could be better. The stats could be much better. Including average game score for instance would be a nice touch. This would probably be more useful than the ELO rating.

Also, in random player match-up mode I suspect the game effectively allows/ encourages players to ‘cheat’. Why on earth is a dictionary available? Dictionaries are only permitted for challenges so should only be allowed for practice against the computer. You can’t use a dictionary in tournament play. If I inadvertently make a foul move I pass, but I doubt others are so honest. If you don’t know the 2-letter words then learn them. And on the same note if you make a foul move you shouldn’t get to go again. What’s that about? Keep going until something sticks! What nonsense. Until this is sorted out stats are fairly meaningless. I know I lose regularly to a stack of worse players. I’m prouder of my 13% win rate against the computer in expert mode because they’re 100% honest stats.

Please sort it out so the game can be enjoyed as it should be played.
