Shelly 1.4 includes a major update to the core SSH library which brings many improvements and new features, including:
- Improved compatibility with new SSH servers.
- Support for importing, exporting and generating new key formats.
- Fixes an issue where RSA public key authentication didn't work on some servers.
Other new app features and fixes in 1.4 include:
- Private and public keys can now be exported directly as files into other apps (previously only pasteboard was supported).
- Added an information popup that explains why a connection was closed while the app was in the background.
- Reorganized the 'Keyboard and Gestures' section in Settings to make it make it more straightforward.
- The toolbar can now be optionally hidden when using a physical keyboard.
- Fixed an issue that prevented entering text into other apps when using the app on iPad in split view with a physical keyboard.

Shelly is the SSH app you are looking for!
If you want the best SSH app to log into your server(s), then this is the app for you! I tried lots of ssh apps but each one let me down one way or another. Shelly has so much to offer and it works fantastically. My favourite function is the support for authorised key log in, using rsa keys. I can finally log into my server from my iPhone or iPad with authorised keys enabled and passwords disabled or enabled. The customisation of Shelly is brilliant, I have the font and colours set just perfectly. I love the fact the price is a one off purchase, hats of to you for that! I reiterate, if you want the best SSH app then this is the app for you!
Great and does it’s job - one bug holding it back
I’ve been using this for a while now and the premium version is absolutely worth it. There is one issue with the iPad version that I always had, if I use Shelly in a split-screen multitasking view, I cannot use text input in the other app. It seems input is locked to Shelly so I have to force close Shelly to be able to type in the other window which quickly gets annoying. This doesn’t seem to be limited to split screen, if Shelly is open in the background this will still happen until the connection is terminated after the 30 seconds is up.
Would love to see a fix for this.
Gets the job done, no hassle and very easy to use.
If you are not sure... it’s free so no excuses and also if you like it allot you can go for the pro version for only like £4 or something. Not like the other apps that bombard you with ads and keep asking to to upgrade, some apps don’t even let you use their app properly until you buy the ‘premium’ feature.
If you are looking for a free ssh tool for your phone, look no further and get this.
