Missed opportunity that needs work
I think the idea is great, the execution isn’t. Design aside which is average at best, there isn’t an AppleTV app which is really strange for such an obvious catalogue of movie and entertainment media. The iOS app is just a portal to watch purchased/rented content online, which you have to Airplay to your big screen 🤦🏼♂️. Correct, you can’t view what’s available in app, my guess is, to avoid Apple’s in App purchase charges. The schizophrenic approach from buying/renting to watching just adds up to a poor user experience and will likely put people off - not just the fact the media appears to be HD only - I could be wrong but there are no media type flags anywhere. Shame really, you could really have a proper movie experience at home with potentially pre movie trailers and the usual Showcase pizzazz. Here’s hoping it improves
Casting to Smart TV
I use the cast option in YouTube and it’s brilliant - the cast in this app only sees my iPhone (the device I’m using)
Probably my set up but limiting enough I probably won’t be making any more purchases until it’s an app available on a Freeview box etc.
Shame the thought of having cinema in my home was AWESOME!
