Got a free trial, will be back when I get paid.

I’ve just finished my 7 day free trial. I bought a Roland FP-10 and it always links up beautifully through Bluetooth. I love all the different lesson options, with chords and scales as well. I really like being able to chop and change. I like the fact that it makes you play the whole piece again as it really encourages you to link it all together. I have already learnt a lot in the past week, I think it’s a fantastic app and am so happy to have found it. As soon as I have some money I will definitely be paying for the full version. Thank you so much for creating this. It gives me a focus that I just couldn’t seem to find before, but this is getting me to practice daily and stepping up my note reading abilities, in the best way. I am really starting to see patterns and I can’t think of a better way for me to learn.

Really needs some improvements…

As an app for getting people into the basics of piano playing Skoove is very good, but there are a few areas that it needs to drastically improve. Firstly, it often doesn’t recognise a note played when using the audio input. This is by far the most annoying problem, and I can see it being a big problem for anybody just starting out. Secondly, when learning a piece using Skoove, you can’t select which areas to practice by yourself - for instance, when learning the Amelie piano theme, it asks you to play the entire right hand completely through, despite there being three separate sections to learn. It would be much improved if I could do an a-b selection and learn chunks. Finally, there’s no search or bookmarking, so if you want to skip around in lessons or learn a particular song then you have to remember what else you were learning.

Other than that, I would say that the Skoove app is very good. The interface is well thought out, and although the selection of songs isn’t as large as other apps (no prelude in C? C’mon, it’s not in copyright!) there’s enough to keep you going if you’re new or coming back.

No midi in the beginners, mic just doesn’t work

I will start by saying that I got 3 months free with Skoove when I bought a Roland keyboard. My son and I have been using this for a couple of weeks and it’s beyond frustrating. It’s hard enough at the start without the added frustration this app adds to the mix. You can play a piece perfectly but you still fail as the mic either doesn’t hear the notes or hears them incorrectly. Why oh why do you not have Bluetooth midi available on any of the beginners lessons is beyond me. When contacting support, all they say is it’s available in later lessons after beginners. Not much good when I have already left before reaching them through frustration. So in the end, after only 2 weeks, we gave up our free 3 months and went onto “Simply Piano”. This has midi support on every lesson and has much better features than Skoove. In Simply Piano, if you get notes wrong in a piece you get taken out to practice that section and then returned back to where you left off. So much better than this app. Just can’t recommend Skoove to anyone who is new to piano. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Developer Response ,

Hello there, we are sad to hear about your disappointing experience with Skoove. Due to technical reasons the Bluetooth/Midi/Usb connection is not supported in "Piano Beginner 1". We are working to make it possible in the future. Being able to repeat a certain section is also something, that we want to implement in the future. Then we'd be glad to welcome you back at Skoove. In the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact us via in-app chat or email to info@skoove.com, if you have any further questions or feedback. Best regards, your Skoove team
