Description

This app you will be able to learn more about the history of Skriduklaustur

Skriduklaustur is a historical site in Eastern Iceland where a 16th century monastery was excavated in the years 2000-2012. The excavation revealed complex cloister of buildings, including church and hospital and a cemetary with 300 graves. It was an Augustinian cloister and is the only monastery that has been fully excavated in Iceland. The ruins of the monastery are now an offical heritage site where you can walk into the past. With this app you will be able to learn more about the history of this monastery and see how the buildings and landscape look like 500 years ago. It is both for use on site and at home.
