Good concept, poorly executed.
This app seems like a fantastic idea, Sky’s huge variety of movies available at the press of a button. Sadly the app has been really poorly optimised, and poor design choices were made. One key issue with the app is being unable to Airplay content to an Apple TV or use an external monitor, which limits the viewing ability. Another major issue is that after watching a movie if you don’t pause it, it plays in the background while you browse the app and only stops if you close and re open the app, also the choice of choosing the quality of the content isn’t available. Back to my point of poor design choices, the setting button and search bar are coloured white, and the background behind is also white so unless you know it’s there from the start you will be unable to see them easily. In conclusion, this App is worth downloading if your willing to deal with the many issues, hopefully Sky’s App development team may one day see this and not ignore the feedback which seems to have happened for the past year. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Won’t load films
Normally, this app is just fine for streaming good films until today. I sat down and decided I’d watch Friday the 13th part 3 and ,when I found the film, it only showed up with the trailer button and not watch as it usually did. After opening and closing the app a couple of times, I thought to try watching the trailer as maybe it was simply a glitch. So I did. Nothing happened. It came up with the sort of screen that would come up when a film was loading but simply didn’t load. Furthermore, it seems certain films I can watch but not this one. I don’t know if this is some sort of bizarre new way that it works and ,if it is, I’m not a fan in the slightest. Pleas fix this so I can enjoy my films as I usually do.
Awful. Just awful.
Where do I start? Maybe it’s because I’m a Virgin customer and not a Sky customer so they deliberately make it terrible for non-sky users. It will constantly decide you need to re-sign in. It sometimes just decides not to accept the parental pin (despite receiving an email which confirms the pin you are using is correct). If you try and and skip head when watching via on-demand it just stops working. The buttons will randomly turn white, along with the text, so you can’t see what you’re typing or any results. Downloads constantly stall or just don’t start at all (and it has nothing to do with internet connection as all other internet services work fine). All in all it is utter garbage. Whoever made this app should be fired for incompetence.
