Sky+ app is the best way to discover and manage all of your Sky TV and movies. You can connect directly to your Sky+HD box in-home to browse all of our content, set downloads and recordings and manage your planner. You can also set downloads, recordings and series links when you’re out and about so you never miss a thing.
To use the enhanced features you will need a compatible Sky+HD box and have your device and Sky+HD box connected to the same broadband network either with a wired or wireless connection. Please see the Help section of the app for more details.
In order to Record and Download programmes to your Sky+HD box you will need to register your Sky iD with the service at sky.com/remoterecord and simply follow the instructions.
Smart Series Link and photo viewing are only available to customers with a compatible Sky+HD box.
All recordings are FREE, however mobile network and/or Wi-Fi charges may apply.

If you are having problems connecting your app to your Sky+HD box, please make sure that your Sky+HD box and iPhone/iPad are on the same WiFi network. No Sky+ box found when both it and iPhone are connected to the same WiFi network.
As a blind Sky TV customer, the Sky+ app helps me to set my recordings and downloads with VoiceOver on the iPhone, but when I am in range of the Sky+ box and both it and my iPhone are connected to the same WiFi network, launching the Planner via the app causes the iPhone to search for Sky+ HD boxes and I then get the message that no compatible Sky+ HD boxes were found on the WiFi network, even though I haven’t disconnected the box or moved my phone to another network.
This means that for blind customers, they have to ask for sighted assistance when it comes to playing recorded or downloaded content using the Sky remote as the iPhone can’t drive the box to enable independant use of the system. This problem needs to be resolved as blind users would like to use their iPhones or iPads in order to play recordings and downloads with the use of speech.
Since joining Sky TV in January 2016, there has only been 1 or 2 updates to the Sky+ app, it has been 10 months since the last update was made available to customers, so it’s ready for updating again, but should be done on a regular basis.
Was good at one time
The app is great for setting recording when away from sky box however why isn’t there still not a option to remove recordings and why is everything on this app got to be done over WiFi not everybody has access to WiFi all the time so you are putting theses customers at a disadvantage and therefore not been able to make the most out of their subscription this is what sky likes to preach if I am right I have had this app for a few years now and nothing ever changes with it I would of rated 5 stars if we were given the ability to cancel recordings when connected to a mobile network every sky tv customer has a number so sky can add this feature to the app we are asked to log in to set recordings so why can’t we see the content on our sky boxes when connected to a mobile network am not seeing the slogan sky likes to use Believe in better add this and I will I rated 3 stars be grateful it was going to be 0 if I could have done the app is lacking basic features like seeing what’s recorded on sky box
More like Sky- than Sky+
The repeated disconnections from the Sky box which then require me to ‘search for a box’ and then choose to ‘connect’ are a real pain in the backside! They take away all the pleasure of using the app!!! It would be really great if you could include in this app the facility to delete watched programmes from the Sky+ box. Currently I am unable to do this except when Actually in front of my box. I used to think Sky was an innovative technology company but their inability to address these simple problems that have been in existence for so long makes me wonder. This app promises so much - but delivers so little !!!
Update: June 2018
No apparent progress on any of the above but the App has now begun to regularly ‘lose’ all my recordings and scheduled programmes. It just reports there are none but makes no attempt to search! As there is no re-boot procedure available on the app the only solution is to delete, re-install, search and connect! It happens across iPads ranging from 2nd Generation iPad Air to latest iPad Pro. THE GRIEF IT CAUSES HAS BEGUN TO OUTWAY ANY BENEFIT FROM IT!!!!!
