Cows’ milk allergy is one of the most common food allergies in babies and young children and the symptoms can be challenging to recognise, often resulting in many months and doctors’ appointments for a diagnosis. The symptoms are often varied and may effect the skin (rash, hives, dry, scaly or itchy skin), the digestive system (diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and reflux) and the respiratory system (noisy breathing, coughing, runny nose).
SmilesBack is an easy-to-use mobile app that enables you to keep track of your baby’s symptoms and feeds to help your doctor faster determine if your baby has CMA. It can also be used to help monitor symptom changes if your baby has already been diagnosed.
Key features and benefits of SmilesBack, includes:
• Accurately and easily keep track of your baby’s symptoms and feeds
• Symptoms are summarised in a one page, expert designed report to help you simply communicate symptoms to your doctor for them to faster recognise if it could be CMA
• Add pictures, notes and keep track of your doctors appointments
• Designed in collaboration with CMA experts, GP’s and tested with parents
• Learn more about CMA, including the signs and the path to diagnosis and management.
Download the app and help put smiles back where they belong.
SmilesBack is not a diagnostic tool. Always consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns about your baby’s health.

Fantastic app easy to see and use
This app has been amazing not just for tracking the allergy but being able to see patterns of behaviour and things that may affect his mood and also make it brilliant for establishing a consistent routine.
The only two things I would say is it’s a shame you cannot add their sleep time into it also. And I would also say it would be handy if you could calculate their daily formula intake somewhere especially as for preemies this is so important especially with an allergy.
But can’t recommend this enough and being able to leave comments means you can go back and check things for instance whether you’ve added gaviscon to that feed etc.
A must for parents of babies with suspected CMPA
I came across this app when desperately stumbling around for a way to record the food my baby was eating and symptoms he was having to try and spot a pattern! The concept is brilliant and the app works well, I never experience any issues, the information I have recorded is all available in the log or reports and can even be shared with a doctor. There are areas that could be expanded further, I’d like to be able to attach media to the “mood” and also record any illness or teething that may contribute to symptoms but overall it has helped me identify what was triggering my little one and provides a single place to store all the allergy related symptoms.
Fab app for tracking symptoms
Used this for my little girl- really helped to narrow down when symptoms happened and in the end confirmed that she had a milk allergy through being able to track back feeds and symptoms.
