This is the stop smoking app that science built. Over 20 different, evidence-based, techniques to help you become - and stay - smoke free. See how much money you've saved, how many cigarettes you've not smoked, how long you’ve been smoke free, how much life you've regained and how your health is improving.

Log your cravings, get tips on dealing with them, use the map to see where they congregate, the notes to see what patterns can be identified and the graph to see how they're decreasing.

All this is free to use and entirely free of ads. If you need extra help giving up smoking our missions could be just what you need, as they’ve been proven to double your chances of quitting. No other app can promise you this.

We proved the missions worked by performing a rigorous scientific experiment. As far as we know, this is the first ever randomised control trial run entirely within an app. Its success means we want to run many more and our goal is to constantly make our app more effective

This is all entirely voluntary and you can download the app without taking part in the experiment. Your data will be kept anonymous and you can delete it at any time. But we really hope you do take part because everyone who does will help the quitters who follow. So do yourself a favour by quitting smoking. And do your fellow smokers a favour by helping them understand how it’s done.

What’s New

Version 5.0.6

Fixed the problem with the text entry field not appearing when you have to enter text. At least I hope we have because it's a really annoying bug but it only appears infrequently, so we'll only know for sure if it's fixed when it's been in the wild for a while. Fingers crossed! Other changes include a nicer experience when connecting an account, a few design tweaks and a couple of fixes for our European brethren.

Love the app, however something to note...

I have tried and tried and have been through every option in the app, through the iTunes ID section and here in the App Store, but cannot find a way to do it....

So basically, when first downloading it, it offers you the option of a trial for 7 days and thereafter a £0.99p per week subscription, OR, the option to make a one-off purchase (I cant remember how much but it is exactly but based on how much I’ve enjoyed the app and how much it’s helped me, it’s very reasonable at around £5-7 from memory), but of course - you don’t know if it’s worth that before trying it. So I, as I imagine most would probably do to see if they like it, took out the trial subscription. Immediately after a couple of days I realised I wanted to keep using the app, but would prefer to buy outright than pay 0.99p every week. However that option to make a one-off purchase is nowhere to be seen. It’s either 0.99p per week (which is crazy to be honest knowing you are initially offered a one-off purchase for a few quid) or nothing.

Please sort this out developers. I’d like to buy it but can’t! And that’s a bit nuts if you ask me. I wonder how many other fivers you’ve not made from others like me. You deserve it. The app is dead good!

Absolutely great with only one criticism

I love this app and even got the pro upgrade. I’ve made several attempts over the last few years and never lasted more than a month but I think now is the time I’m ready. You know when you’re ready. It’s when YOU decide to do it, not when others are pressuring you. Some people find they literally just wake up and think “yanno what, im done”. I’m into my 7th day. I’ve used this app before but have never fully committed to it like I am now. It’s an amazing app and if you’re wondering whether the pro upgrade it’s worth it then it is. Especially if you think you’ll be making a few attempts before finding you can stick to it. I’d definitely recommend using this app combined with NRT (such as a decent e-cig). The ONLY criticism I have is that you can’t add your own feelings, triggers, or activity you’re involved in etc when you add a craving. You can make a note at the end but if you’re like me and ‘at an appointment’ or ‘feeling unwell’ the only option you can click is ‘Other’. It would be good if there were more options, maybe even just somewhere I could edit what some of the triggers/feelings/activities are. Besides that, love it. Best stop smoking up I’ve ever used and I’ve tried so many it’s unbelievable!

Developer Response ,

Hi, just seen this. We're currently working on an update to the cravings triggers section that will allow you to add your own items. Hope this quit has been so successful that you've no need of this now.

If you want to finally quit - get this

Smoked 20 a day for over 15 years. Apart from pregnancy, the longest I had ever managed to quit before was a couple of weeks and that was a living hell. I have in the past tried nicotine replacement and even hypnotherapy - nothing worked. Thought I would give this a go and honestly - it's amazing. I'm 6.5 months in from quitting cold turkey and I would never have done it without the app. The running totals of money saved, health improving, cigs not smoked etc totally gave me a stubborn motivation not to give in and set it all back to 0. I liked being able to keep a diary and a note of cravings, even if it was me just writing 'aaaaaargggh I want a cigarette!!!!' it made me feel like it was something to do to 'manage' the craving. I found it useful to write down over and over why I was quitting on the craving pages.
I won't say it has been completely easy quitting as it was still a fight, but this app felt like my little pro-quitting buddy! Get the full version so you can unlock the missions etc. All I can say is thank you to the creators - you may have saved my life!
