Description
SomaFM's official internet radio player (for OSX 10.6 and above) gives you access to over 20 channels of commercial-free, underground/alternative music, programmed by DJs who are passionate about their genres. We feature the best in electronica, ambient, indie pop, americana, world and more. Soma FM began streaming in 1999 and thrives thanks to the support of our listeners.
Our app allows you to:
- Sort channels by Popularity, Genre or just see your favorites
- See the name and artist of currently playing song and a history of songs played.
- Bookmark songs you like and purchase them later
- Get the latest news and happenings from SomaFM
- Listen in the background while you use other applications
- Listen to SomaFM without interrupting what you're doing in iTunes. For example, you can play an audiobook in iTunes while listening to music from the SomaFM player.

Great stations, great app
The app - simple, straightforward - worth using in preference to listening through other radio apps, for the benefit of the live track listing.
The station(s) - SomaFM are awesome, and of course they're listener-supported. A combination of Indie Pop Rocks and Folk Forward are rapidly making my music collection redundant, no need to curate for yourself when these guys do such a good job :)
Excellent player, with track listings
Great radio stn. & simple, decent player. Choose from a number of stations from instrumental electronic to drone, pop and experimental.
Lovely little app
A very nice standalone player for SomaFM, and a lot better than listening to the stream via iTunes or VLC, as you can see how many others are listening, which is a lovely touch. There’s also a ‘Community’ tab which lets you know the current buzz, news, who’s tweeting what etc etc. It makes Soma feel so much more than a stream of bits.
