Soulver 2 is no longer receiving updates. Please upgrade to Soulver 3.
Soulver helps you do quick calculations and work things out. Use Soulver to play around with numbers, do "back of the envelope" calculations, and solve day-to-day problems.
Annotate your numbers with words, so that they make sense to you. Soulver picks out the numbers and calculates your answer as you type. Do calculations over multiple lines, and refer to previous lines, much like a spreadsheet.
Soulver is great for adding things up, doing all kinds of percentages easily, and converting things, like currencies. It's quicker to use than a spreadsheet, and smarter and clearer than a traditional calculator.
Key Features:
- A text editor for working stuff out & doing quick calculations.
- Use words amid your calculations so your numbers make sense
- Easily do percentages ("$120 - 10%", "30 as a % of 200")
- See a running total of all your lines
- Do easy conversions ("10 USD in Euros, "22 feet in meters")
- Refer to previous lines using tokens.
- Create variables to hold frequently used numbers
- All standard mathematical functions.
- Support for calculations in binary & hex.
- Save your work & sync via iCloud to the iPhone & iPad versions of Soulver.
- Export into PDF & HTML emailing.
- Support for Resume & Versions.

Great value

I've been using Soulver for more than a decade and it never failed me once. It is amazing that developer keeps the version 2 available still even for macOS Sonoma.
Essential Tool

Soulver is great for doing calcuations, but also documenting your train of thought as you go. As a Data Scientist, Excel has it's place, but Soulver is great for trying to untangle and organise what's in your head. Essential app.
Kudos

Kudos for providing an Apple Silicon update to Soulver 2 despite also having an upgraded version.
Such a good idea

This is really a great idea.On the classic Mac OS I used to use the Nisus Writer word processor and that could do calculations, you would write out the equation on a line, then select and use a command to evaluate it. This was so useful but as I don't use Nisus Writer any more on OS X I have been missing that.Soulver now brings back this ability to my computer and much more besides. It would would have been so useful if I'd know about it a month ago when I was doing my accounts, but at least I will have it for next year.I really like the fact that Soulver uses the Apple help system. I don't like it when applications just open a webpage with the help at that, or worse still a Wiki type thing. I like the well thought out Help of Soulver and in the simple GUI of the Apple Help system. The only thing I don't understand about Soulver is the name ☺ Okay it is Solver with a "U" but why?If the people at Acqualia want to do something else, I would really like to see an ultra simple table application. This would open a window with a table, and you could put in data and the table will produce calculations. It wouldn't be a spreadsheet, but rather just a very simple table. There was a program like that for a few years called "Tables" but alas it was abandoned. With the App Store now I think that small companies like Acqualia can now get a much bigger market so maybe a program like the one I've described would do better now.
- Support for macOS 14 Sonoma
