Definitely does the job

I've been using this app for years and it seems to be pretty accurate. Admittedly I don't understand exactly how it measures download/upload speeds or why it seems to select different locations to measure from but if my connection sppeed obviously slows this is reflected when I use Speedtest to measure it.

DEAR OOKLA, I HAVE A SUGGESTION - WOuld it be possible to set up Speedtest to take regular teext (say, every hour) over a 24 hour period so that I can see a graph of speed variations over time to understand whether it dips badly during 'busy' periods? It would be great to be able to just set it up to run in the background. Thanks!!

Confusing

I have been using this app for a long time and have always found it to be reliable. However since the latest iteration I have found it has become unreliable. The first problem is that the app often has a problem locating a server and once it is in search mode there is no way to close the app. The app then hangs in search mode and only way to close it is to re-start the computer which is totally unsatisfactory. On restarting the app finds a server immediately. The other problem I have noticed is that the app gives a totally different reading to running OoKla Speedtest in a web browser. I checked the speed of my laptop several times with the app and got a reading of 39Mb. I also got the same reading using the app on my iPhone. However when I took the reading on my laptop using Ookla Speedtest in Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera I consistently got a reading of 60Mb. It’s disappointing not to know which readings to trust.

Reliable results Realy usefull when checking if your provider is throttling your speed

Reliable results Realy usefull when checking if your provider is throttling your speed.

I found my router they supplied was the problem and not the speed they were sending to my house.

I have a 100MB Fiber but due to different phones and computers (old and new)

i do sometimes have connection issues.

Using this app allowled me to check instantly the speed being piped into my home from the provider to my hub and there fore rule out any fault from my internet provider.

Its a great App very accurate and totally matches my own findings against the service i pay for and the speed of some of my devices when connected.

I was able to diganose the falt to the cheep router my provider supplied so upgraded to my own netgear RX20 router and instantly saw the speeds i was paying for being delivered more efficiently.

My first port of call when there are connection or speed issues is this app.
