Squadron - Bullet Hell Shooter 4+

This is an old school arcade shooter with a modern mobile touch. There have been many games where I have liked the three star rating system and then many games where I did not. It seems this angry birds style rating system become over used in mobile gaming. Opting for quick little levels with the three star rating rather than longer levels you would see on pc or console.

This game however is one of the ones I like and the the quick levels and three star rating feels at home for this style of game.

Also it has used different ships that shoot differently essentially as lives. So four ships=four lives. Lose a ship and lose a life. You can switch between these ships at your leisure and their shooting styles suit different stages of the level.

This shooter has the cool power ups for crazy shooting variations and each ship has its own shooting upgrades when it picks up the power ups, there is also a bomb icon that can be used once a level to clear the screen when you are about to die but you can acquire another bomb with a bomb power up or revive a ship with a health power up. So if you like games like you will like this. Simple:)

ok so when you start the game it feels like cheap unity game made in few hours like any other but the gameplay is very fun. it allows you to change ships when you are playing which is cool because you might want lazer type for boss and wide range for weaker enemies. feels smooth to play and is just as fun as any other shooter. only complaint is that you cant change stuff in settings to do with actual gameplay (such as sensitivity, bomb button location, etc). needs to add that. also bomb button is at top right of screen which is little awkward to reach but other than that its perfect shooter. the difficulty increases as you play which allows new players to get used to it and gradually develop skill to do harder levels. very cool.

This game is simply awesome. For what it is, it has brought back a lot of the fun I had as a kid on the PC Engine or Sega Megadrive.

On the outset, you're a spaceship fighting for dear life and the enemy has launched an onslaught of never ending bullets and wave after wave of drone ships just waiting to get blown up in formation.

Does anyone else remember Battle Squadron or Truxton/Tatsujin. This game [Squadron] is right up with the classics of the 1980s.

Controls are a little odd moving the ship with your finger but I'm playing on an iPhone 5s and I've got sausage fingers but aside from that, it's a great game. Fine if you have slender fingers otherwise, I'd suggest downloading it on an iPad and try it on that instead (or as well).
