SSC '22 - Super Soccer Champs 4+

Almost perfect

I have really enjoyed this game, I expected something a bit more like the SNES football games I played when I was younger but it turns out the gameplay is actually really good, the players are easy to control. The game is fun and keeps you playing but not addictive because it is like a slot machine (raid for example)

The main problems I have are for starters, I play in the English League 1 with a team I have brought up but once you get a few good players you are unstoppable, I was up 5-0 with a top of the league side within the first half. Maybe the elite league will be tougher. I did up the difficulty mid season would I need to restart to get the harder difficulty?

Secondly after winning a league it just rolled into the next season, no international break for celebration or trophy. It just kills my enthusiasm for the game when it rolls over as if no milestones were reached. Where is my dopamine fix?

Lastly, when buying a play you should be able to compare their stats to your existing team, like you can when selecting your squad

Promising but currently poor (updated review)

OLD REVIEW:I feel like the game looks like it can be good but it’s riddled with problems. My main problem is my players are always so much slower than the AI’s meaning I can not score. Defending is very hard because their players are twice as fast and the auto switching is absolutely horrendous as every few seconds it switches defender so you cannot get any where near their attackers and the tackling is hard anyway because if by some chance you win the ball the players don’t automatically pick up the ball so they run past and leave it. Just some tweaks could make this a great football game.

UPDATE: I have changed my opinion of the game slightly. I still think the switching is terrible especially when it doesn’t let you switch. I also hate the way there is no indication of where the ball is landing so you are just guessing and why don’t players pick up the ball when it’s right there? Just do what other football games do where if there is a loose ball then players automatically run towards it. Although I have changed my opinion on much I have said, I think there is an issue much much bigger than any other. Home advantage! When I’m at home I win 10-0 pretty much every time it every time I am away I lose because the AI have perfect passes and are so so so much faster than any of my players. Just remove home advantage or tweak it lots because to me it is the most overpowered thing and my manager mode is just half wins half losses.

Thanks for the updated review. Player switchng can now be forced by tapping the blue button. Further work on this is ongoing, and I'll update the ingame tutorials to explain player switching better soon.

Strangely addictive

Given the fact of better games out there. What we have is a game focussed on simplicity - you can buy and sell players, train them and give them additional capability through the cards you gain as you become a better manager. Don’t change that format. The likes of championship manager and football manager are great if you have time to focus on it. This is unique in that you get to play the games as well if you like. I’ve just taken Northampton to the premier (elite as it’s known here) league. Found a bug though. Game now hangs when I try to go to the next game. I now find myself in Groundhog Day, repeating a 0-2 defeat against Burnley! Irony is, each time, I get to change the players and the formation, but the exact same game story plays out, right down to the same scorers at the same time. Kinda shows there may not be a real gam engine behind this to give results based on your decisions. That all said, if I can get passed this ‘hang’ somehow, this is a brilliant game. Where else would you find a mix of sensible soccer and championship manager! Oh and finally, I moved to simulation mode as it is nigh on impossible to score a goal when playing the actual game. Have a quick look at that and you’ve got a real winner!
