Stake: Trade U.S. Stocks 17+

It’s a good app for investing into US stocks but I must admit the biggest flaw is that the app offers US trading 😂 even if the standard are lower than the users actual country.

I mean if you’re offering a USD brokerage account (known for being slow and aggregating high fees) then at least say, make it better.

Like why would a UK user use your app when the domestic options are much faster, easier to use and honestly, don’t seem like hedge funds in disguise.

$3 fees on EVERY stock trade is ludicrous, even as little as a $10 trade gets eaten up by this, not just on each buy but also on the sale of a stock, so on a $20 trade, $6 will eventually go to stake, a huge issue i had was the advertising of ‘ETFs’ this was a big reason for me to try the app, turns out you need to have a portfolio of $30,000 which is ridiculous when taking into account apps such as trading212 which charge no fees on transactions and allow hundreds of ETFs to be bought and sold instantly with no minimum balance. Other apps also allow instant withdrawal of funds and also the ability to use recently traded funds, on stake, it appears you have to pay for a membership for this to be the case. only allowing 5 trades per day is also a joke, on other apps, there are no limits to this.

In its current state, i can’t see how it’ll ever be successful, it is missing pretty much all of the standard features of trading/platform apps these days.

Probably the worst trading app I’ve ever used. Closing my trades took 5 hours! In that time the market had fallen way below what I wanted to close at and I lost over £600! They put this down to a technical glitch. My withdrawable balance was then showing correctly after all of this so I withdrew it. A week later the money hadn’t been returned and they had cancelled my withdrawal without informing me. I logged into the app to find a new balance, 800 dollars less than what I had just withdrawn and when contacting customer support they told me this was again due to a technical glitch. I had the confirmation email of withdrawal and they have just taken 800 dollars of my money with the only reason saying the email was a technical glitch. Will be taking this further but don’t use this app if you want your money and winnings to be safe. Corrupt.
