Exclusive debut only on iPhone & iPad!

"4 out of 5 - Starsceptre is a really cool retro game that will entertain you for several hours, and offers high replay-value"
Game trailer: https://youtu.be/DtDvO7CZcHk
With newly redesigned controls, Starsceptre is a pixelated retro shoot ’em up using touch to shoot your way through the game, testing your nerves and reactions to their limits.
With auto fire ALWAYS ON, you can use a second touch to stop firing, enabling you to wait for weapons to drop or to shoot only when you need to.
As the pilot, you awake suddenly in the cockpit of your Starfighter to find your short-term memory missing and your planet shattered into two halves.
Accompanied by a mysterious stowaway who wields the Starsceptre - a magical device that rewinds time - you must battle your way to defeating the evil Draxses.
Can you stop other planets from suffering the same fate?
Looking like one of those 8bit or 16 bit pixel games you loved as a kid, you'll relive 80s & 90s arcade memories on the go via your iPhone or iPad. And like all the classics, this game is easy to play, but difficult to master.
• more powerful power ups
• bug fixes
• new controls

Best shooter on IOS
For all your shmup nerds out there THIS is the best shooter on IOS. IF you loved the games of the 80's and 90's then you really need to play this game so it can take you back to a simpler time of arcade shooters. If you loved games like Gradius, Super Aleste, R-Type, Raiden and Radiant Silvergun then you are gonna get a kick out of Starsceptre. From the scanline graphics to the awesome music and now the choice of using stick controls you will be in shoot em up heaven !
Fantastic old school style shmup
There are a lot of modern crappy shmups on the App Store with no soul, flat uninteresting gameplay and boring level design.
This is none of those things - the graphics are beautifully hand drawn 2D (reminds me of Taito classics like Layer Section) interesting level design and some catchy tunes to blast everything to pieces to. The new controls are much better than previously; I always thought this game was awesome but the controls held it back from greatness. Now there’s an auto fire, it’s much more comfortable to play. My only criticism of this obvious labour of love is the power-up mechanic - personally I’d rather pick up power-ups that don’t need to be selected from shooting them to select the weapon you need, but that’s just me. I think a little tweak there and the game would be perfect.
Absolutely worth your money - buy it now and support the dev :)
Don’t get me wrong this game looks cool, I adore the art style it’s just a shame the gameplay doesn’t match up. The controls are super twitchy I’m not expecting a cave co quality of shmup controls but I’m sure ditching the silly joystick and buttons for a modern touch and auto fire controls would be 100x better. There’s some nice touches like the rewind when you die cutscene but tbh for the price it’s never been worth the money. I can see a lot of love by the developer has been put into the game graphically but I just feel this is miles off the other shmup titles available on iOS
Developer Response ,
Hi, thanks for your great feedback. Version 2.1 is out now with new controls changed to one finger steer with autofire to make the game easier to play. I hope that fixes the issue as it is a real labour of love this game and I'd love you to be happy too! Thank you again!
P.S if you try out the new version and get in touch via Twitter @8bitmagicgames I'll look into getting your own unlockable menu screen pixelart avatar from the secret konami code screen accessible from the flashing star on the main menu
