Starsceptre – Infinite chances to save the Galaxy

Exclusive debut only on iPhone & iPad!

"App of the week" - ApfelPage

"4 out of 5 - Starsceptre is a really cool retro game that will entertain you for several hours, and offers high replay-value"

Game trailer:

With newly redesigned controls, Starsceptre is a pixelated retro shoot ’em up using touch to shoot your way through the game, testing your nerves and reactions to their limits.

As the pilot, you awake suddenly in the cockpit of your Starfighter to find your short-term memory missing and your planet shattered into two halves.

Accompanied by a mysterious stowaway who wields the Starsceptre - a magical device that rewinds time - you must battle your way to defeating the evil Draxses.

Can you stop other planets from suffering the same fate?

Looking like one of those 8bit or 16 bit pixel games you loved as a kid, you'll relive 80s & 90s arcade memories on the go via your iPhone or iPad. And like all the classics, this game is easy to play, but difficult to master.

Best shooter on IOS

For all your shmup nerds out there THIS is the best shooter on IOS. IF you loved the games of the 80's and 90's then you really need to play this game so it can take you back to a simpler time of arcade shooters. If you loved games like Gradius, Super Aleste, R-Type, Raiden and Radiant Silvergun then you are gonna get a kick out of Starsceptre. From the scanline graphics to the awesome music and now the choice of using stick controls you will be in shoot em up heaven !

All style

Don’t get me wrong this game looks cool, I adore the art style it’s just a shame the gameplay doesn’t match up. The controls are super twitchy I’m not expecting a cave co quality of shmup controls but I’m sure ditching the silly joystick and buttons for a modern touch and auto fire controls would be 100x better. There’s some nice touches like the rewind when you die cutscene but tbh for the price it’s never been worth the money. I can see a lot of love by the developer has been put into the game graphically but I just feel this is miles off the other shmup titles available on iOS

Developer Response ,

Thank you! I've rebuilt the game to full touch now, so you fly all around the screen with newly redesigned power ups that fire backwards too as you upgrade. Having spent two and a half years developing this game on my own I'd love you to try out the new version to see how it stacks up. As the game isn't just a pure shooter, it's tactical nature means you choose when to shoot – You'll see why in later levels (hard for us trigger-happy types I know.) I hope you will try it out and reconsider. Your feedback as ever is gratefully received!

The game worth owning a phone for

The latest update secures this games place amongst the best shmups to be found on a phone. The new stick controls are the most responsive I've ever used on a touch screen. It's superbly underpriced also. There's so many incredible cut scenes, all painstakingly hand drawn. The pixel art in this game is some of the best I've ever seen! Great game
