Stellarium Mobile is a planetarium app that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars.
Identify stars, constellations, planets, comets, satellites (such as the ISS), and other deep sky objects in real time in the sky above you in just a few seconds, just by pointing the phone at the sky!
This astronomy application has an easy to use and minimalist user interface, that makes it one of the best astronomical applications for adults and children who want to explore the night sky.

Stellarium Mobile contains in-app purchases allowing to upgrade to Stellarium Plus. With this upgrade, the app will display objects as faint as magnitude 22 (versus magnitude 8 in the base version) and enable advanced observing features.
Stellarium Plus features (unlocked with in-app purchase):
• Reach the limit of knowledge by diving in a massive collection of stars, nebulas, galaxies, star clusters and other deep sky objects:
- All known stars: Gaia DR2 catalog of over 1.69 billion stars

• Zoom almost without limits on high resolution images of deep sky objects or planetary surfaces.
• Observe in the field, even without internet connection, with a "reduced" set of data: 2 million stars, 2 million Deep Sky Objects, 10k asteroids.
• Control your telescope through WIFI: drive any GOTO telescope compatible with NexStar, SynScan or LX200 protocols.
• Prepare your observing sessions using the advanced observation tools, to predict a celestial object observability and transit times.

Incredible, but…
Truly the most capable star tracking application, in my opinion. Although, It is lacking the ability to quickly access the Wikipedia page of the object in question. Even the ability to use the iPhone feature to ‘look up’ would be extremely helpful. Also, it would be wonderful to include a feature for observing local cloud coverage, etc, as it would allow me to avoid using three separate applications. In conclusion, I do believe that this application would benefit greatly from the modernisation of it’s software, and add some more helpful features, or at perhaps a link to such. The interface, although quite dated, works excellently, but it is frustrating to have to switch between ‘Night Sky X’, and ‘Sky Guide’ for the sake of their forecasts and astronomical articles. Other than that, it is genuinely like possessing a private observatory, in your pocket, and is a necessity for serious astronomers, as well as those with just a casual interest!

Thanks for the review. I will fix the wikipedia link in the next update. We will also check how to add some of the features you request.
Devs, please provide an option to keep the search/menu bar visible at all times.
It’s a good app with one major oversight. It’s difficult to access the menu whilst zoomed in on a target. Once a target is chosen, the menu bar disappears. When zoomed in, tapping the upper edge of the screen causes the app to select whatever happens to be under your fingertip as a new target. It’s difficult to bring up the menu bar (e.g to adjust the camera FOV rotation) without first having to zoom all the way out. This oversight makes using the app very much a tedious, trial and error affair. Please give us the option to keep the search/menu bar visible.
EDIT: I have found that when zoomed in on a selected ‘target’, a rapid double tap on the upper left edge of the screen will reveal the menu bar, giving access to the Instruments> Oculars tab. Having to navigate through the menus when making small rotation adjustments still remains a tedious affair. It would be far more convenient, and less tedious, if there were a shortcut (as there is for Landscape, Gridlines etc.) to allow quick access to the Oculars menu.

Excellent for visual astronomy
This app is a key tool in my arsenal. It’s incredible detail blows away any other app as every object is exactly where it should be compared to what you see through the eye piece. Add this in with the ‘circle’ feature, which allows you to see what you will see with your eye piece, it makes for easy star hopping to otherwise difficult to find targets. (Much cheaper and more rewarding than a go to scope).
Definitely recommend. The app has lots of useful features and thousands of objects. Type in an obscure comet and the likelihood is that it is logged on this app.
