STUD FINDER / DETECTOR
This app will help you to detect studs. It uses the magnetometer to measure the magnetic field when your iPhone is placed near any metal objects. You can quickly detect wood studs hidden under walls, drywall, plasterboard or stucco.
DISCLAIMER: The performance of the app is limited by the construction of the wall, presence of a phone cover and/or the material of the nails in the studs.
INSTRUCTIONS: If your device has an external case then please remove it before using this app.

After downloading a first app and spent £5.00 on it for nothing (😡) I tried this second app, free this time decided in not wasting any more money on a gadget!
This app did not work either at the beginning and I was about to uninstall it too… when suddenly, after following the instructions, I went to gradually increase changing the detector sensitivity until reaching a value of 85.
Eureka! I suddenly had a reading and a loud and clear alarm when passing over a very specific area on my wall, where the stud supposedly is.
I will make an attempt of drilling a hole tomorrow and I will update my review accordingly, based on my success or not for finding the exact location of the stud!
Worked for me!
I knew where to look for the stud I was trying to “find”, so I started in a place I thought I would find it. But, the app was very good at refining the position and gave a very clear audible signal that it had found something. I was able to locate 3 studs (presumably because the app detects the nails/ screws). This app offers a fantastic chance to find a stud instead of buying a proprietary device for ££! Thank you!
Excellent app
Excellent app. Only one I could get that actually located the studs behind the plasterboard.
This was the third one I downloaded and the only one that worked.
