Superfluent: Language Learning 4+

Saw this app mentioned and gave it a try, didn't even wait for the 7-day trial to finish before subscribing. I tried one exercise and this app immediately felt like someone had nailed it. The scenarios are genuinely situations you might come across and the questions/replies always feel natural. I like the way you speak your answer and you get (gentle) corrections before you say the corrected version and your reply is processed. Much better than repeating sentences, or doing flash cards alone.

The levels are much smarter than other apps (for those that have used the "Owl App" 😉 ) - you start with getting points for comprehension (roughly A1) and as you level up you can then get scored for accuracy(A2), complexity(B1), reaction time(B2) and speaking speed(C1). Much better than levels being determined by word complexity alone. I've started with A2 (accuracy and comprehension and by the time I have mastered them I think my response speed will have improved enough to start the next level.

You can also tell it your first name, city/country and pronouns so it feels quite personable in the responses.

The ability to save conversation snippets for later review is handy as well so you continue with the conversation beyond the end of the exercise.

I've probably tried all of the top 15 apps that are available for Italian and for speaking I think this is the best! Bravissimo! 🇮🇹

I’m at level A2/B1 French previously using another popular language app. I have only been using the app for a few weeks but can already see a huge improvement in my ability to speak French. But more importantly, I now have a lot more confidence to continue to speak in French rather reverting to English at the earliest opportunity. Yes I still make mistakes, but my mistakes are clearly explained and alternate correct wording is always suggested. A big thank you to the app designer(s).

I enjoy using this app because it makes you think about what you are going to say. It’s not for beginners as you need to know a lot of Spanish beforehand. The only negative I have is it’s a shame that you cannot start from the beginning on each of the senario’s. You are able to retry the sentence but without writing it down it’s difficult to recall what the correct way is. Also, you can say something that is perfectly correct but the app does like to use personal pronouns when native speakers won’t use them. I’ll certainly keep using it on a daily basis.
