Description
Swiss Pro Map is the map app for Switzerland and the Alpine region: offline maps and useful functions for outdoor activities such as mountain sports, hiking, cycling and aviation.
Maps such as the Swiss National Map, as well as objects on the map, such as hiking trails, public transport stops incl. timetable, SAC huts, parking spaces, location descriptions and much more, once loaded, remain usable offline on the device.
The app supports important functions for outdoor activities such as altitude display, distance and area measurement, search for locations and coordinates, route recording, import and export, offline route planning, etc.
Swiss Pro Map is free for two weeks from installation. After that, a subscription is required for unlimited use:
* The subscription enables unlimited use of the app and finances its maintenance and further development.
* It is valid for one year from the date of purchase.

* You will be charged with the payment method specified for your Apple ID
* The subscription will automatically renew, unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period
* The account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal
* Subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the Account Settings after purchase

Baffled
The maps are great, but not sure where I am with it. Over the years I’ve bought many tiles which I could download to my phone, no problem. Then following a 2 year lay off, when I want to visit Switzerland, pop ups are telling me I need to subscribe. Not wanting to be on the mountain with no digital map I just paid. A similar thing happened with Memory map for UK maps.
Will I be able to use the maps I paid for without continuing paying a subscription?
Swiss map
Excellent for skiers trecking etc. All maps fit on the iPhone and the GPS chipset gives you the right position without the need to connect to the Internet. One regrets though the poor navigating interface and track recording. Very basic from that point of view. Also could use the accelerometer to start and stop recording. Emailing position or sending it through SMS could be useful!! Other free apps give more functions albeit for poorer map quality. Otherwise very good.
Tiles not staying on iphone
Think I was conned with this one. Bought Section 4, scrolled around loading tiles from the server. Turn on Airplane mode tiles no longer there despite the claim that they are stored locally! Would it not be better to download the entire section of maps in one go? I would hate to run up data roaming costs just to use this app. I live in the UK and this WOULD have been good for my summer holiday if it did what it said on the tin!
