Description

Tag is an elegant metadata editor for all of your music.

Tag supports editing of FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Opus, DSF, Musepack, WavPack, Monkey's Audio, Speex, True Audio, Apple Lossless, AAC, MP3, WAV, and AIFF files. The intuitive interface simplifies common editing tasks and also allows more advanced changes including editing multiple album artwork images.

For files with incomplete or missing metadata Tag can guess tag values by matching the filename to a user-defined pattern. Tag can also search Discogs to flesh out any missing metadata, and Tag can even identify and tag unknown files using AcoustID.

Wasted money

Need to sort out tags on my collection of mp3 and some of them are missing tags, covers etc. Itunes cant help with that so I hoped that this will do. Unfortunatelly not. Cant find missing information, cannot scan through whole folder, you have to point all files. Quite useless as manual entry for tags i can do from iTunes level. Dont need to waste the money. Need to keep looking for some proper software and hope to not to encounter waste of time and money like this.

Needs more thought put into it

This app is ok if all you want is to edit the tags on your music one tune at a time.

It falls down if like me, you need to manually edit multiple tunes, e.g. you need to change the album title on 20 or more tunes. There is no automatic save after multiple editing and if you load up a folder (album) of tunes and make your edits, before you can move on to another folder you will be prompted to save the current folder (album) one tune at a time. This is particularly bad if you want to change the artwork for large compilation albums or monthly download charts such as Beatport. The app is extremely slow when updating the artwork to a single image (300 x 300 pi) for Beatport folders and can take several minutes to do so. it then promptly crashes. The edits are saved but the crashing is a real pain.

The app IS functional and Will get the job done but it's lack of speed, lack of intuitive and multiple saves will have most users looking elsewhere for a more robust and easier to use solution.

Great Audio Metadata Editing App

It's a strange quirk that older analogue recordings are likely to benefit from the higher resolution sampling rates being sold now since apparently many digital recordings were originally recorded at 96khz and therefore stuck at that level unless you have up sampling - which is cheating. So I'm downloading 192khz albums many of which were originally double albums (even in CD format). Problem is while they are sold as 2-disc albums, when they are downloaded the 2 discs often merge into one and so you're left with 2 track no.1's, 2 track no 2's and so on which ruins the playing order. You need a metadata editor to enter information such as disc number to re-order the tracks back into their original running order. For £2.99 this app is all you need - easy.
