Save the change whenever you make a purchase. We’ll round up your spending to the next pound and move the difference into your Tandem Account – so that £2.40 you spend on your morning coffee results in 60p in savings. We’ll round up spending on all the accounts you connect to the Tandem app as well as the Tandem credit cards.
SAFE TO SAVE
Safe to Save looks at your regular income alongside your spending habits and identifies how much you can afford to save across the month. The Tandem app then moves a little bit each week and adjusts should you spend more or less than expected. With five different savings levels to choose from you can have complete control over how much you want to save each month.

Great credit card, slow app
My primary use for the Tandem credit card is for purchases abroad and online/supermarket shopping when home. However the only draw back is that the app can be quite slow to load and respond meaning the process of unfreezing/defrosting my card (I like to leave it locked at all times except when making a purchase) can be frustratingly slow. To the extent that I have on a few occasions given up and used another card entirely. If there could be a way of speeding up that feature I would be very happy. N.B. I’m using the latest version of the app on the latest iOS, all on the latest iPhone XS so the device should not be the issue.
I set up autosavings a month ago and now I’ve got an account with over £100 saved that I literally haven’t noticed as I go along. All happens automatically in the background. Set up was smooth, works with my Lloyd’s account (not with one of my other accounts, but early days, I’m sure it’ll follow soon). Chatted to customer service and they were quick to respond in-app chat. Overall very happy with Tandem and enjoying using my card too, but everyone knows it’s the best non-Amex available, particularly for travel.
Ok but sluggish and needs to support iPad screen sizes
I use it to manage the Tandem Credit Card only. No way I would enter my security details for other banks - why don’t they just use the industry standard Open Banking protocol instead?
The app, overall, is fine and has seen some good improvements and new features (Face ID, access to statements, etc.). But it’s quite slow and feels more like a web page wrapper app than a proper fast native iOS app. It also needs to be updated to support iPads, especially since Tandem do not have an online banking site, so this app is the only way to access your account.
Definitely plenty of room for improvement.
