Tanks a Lot - War of Machines 12+

I’m a massive lover of quick battle games and of tanks so this sounded like a perfect game for me, been playing for about a week now and these are thoughts.

Graphics and User interface, the game looks great, good animation, has a nice polished feel about it, so well done there.
The ui in is quite simple, big buttons, bright
colours, however the ‘targeting and firing’ feels a bit clumsy when playing on a phone, you end up with you hand obscuring the screen a lot of the time, also no option for lefty’s.

The game play is super simple to pick up there isn’t much of a learning curve for us newbies and you never really feel underpowered or that the game is ‘pay to win’ element which I’m sure if you spend real money you will get an edge but not so much that it make the game ‘unfair’. It could do with a practice ground to test your tank build before going out into battle but it’s not a massive issue.

There isn’t a clan/guild system yet but I’m sure it will be along shortly, unless this is going to be the only battle game that doesn’t use one!

I would like to see more cosmetic options for your tanks at the moment you get a green skin and that’s it, but then tanks ARE green... right?

All in all this game have some nice potential and I hope that the developers keep working and updating.

Developers... amazing game!!! Please please please introduce clubs/ club leaderboards ( club battles with club chat))This would take the game to the next level. would make the game more competitive and fun. Would be great if you guys listened!

Recently had yet again a generic reply from boombit. Please don’t fob off loyal gamers of a tanks a lot. We make your game!

May I just add... the game is fun as I’ve mentioned many times before, although I do think that you pay to advance! I’ve played this game quite a lot... it takes ages to build decent tanks... unless?? You start buying in app purchases. This is and will put players off! Players who play a lot and want to earn their way to the top seem to be punished. If you pay though with in app purchases your ok! A bit disappointed boombit, seems you have to pay to improve. I don’t mind the odd little in app purchase but this money grabbing is greedy. I’m good at this game but it’s seriously disheartening when your up against players who have obviously spent a lot of money on the game. Unfair! Most games you play your rewarded p for the time you put in. This game that doesn’t happen. I will still leave my review at 5stars but this could change if you don’t make this a fairer game for all. Stop being greedy! Also please don’t reply with your usual generic email... makes it look like your not bothered 👍

Spending money on the game helps upgrade weapons faster and increases the chance to get something unique, that's true. But this is not the only thing that matters. Your skills and the time you spend in the game are even more important. Try different combos, play different modes and you will succeed for sure!

I do really enjoy this game when I’m with actual players (if that’s ever been completely the case I don’t know 🤔) however the bots really let down the game for me.

When their on your team or the opposite they tend to follow your movements. I’ve been in copying matches with enemy bots to see how long they would do it for (eg staying behind a wall and gesturing left and right quickly) and from my point of view it’s too depended on others actions. This is also true for bots on your team who won’t for instance score a goal and instead pass it to you when you are next to them thereby loosing it or sabotaging you by passing it to you at inappropriate times. The names are pretty obvious for the bots and I’m not the only one who’s had these issues from forums on the net.

Not sure if this is an everyone issue or only boys, however when I have hit someone, the attack doesn’t always register. This is not the case of a shield, it just hasn’t worked though I made a hit. I hope this can also be looked it.

Not bad but not great either. When the game picks up and more people are playing it’ll get better, however I do also enjoy the idea of improving the bots for offline play in the future if possible so I hope the developers continue to work on their AI.

Overall it’s pretty good, it can just be made very frustrating to play sometimes.
