Ten Frames are the perfect math manipulatives for early elementary classrooms. In this app we’ve built an interactive ten frame so that your students can develop their number sense while on the iPad. This app includes addition and subtraction questions up to 20 with over 100 bonus words to help develop vocabulary. Fun optional games at the end of every level provide a fun 60 second surprise for your little ones! This is ideal for Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2.

This free version includes an in-app purchase to unlock the full version. Note that we also have a 'School Edition' of this app and that we offer the 50% school discount through the Apple Volume Purchase Program for Education.

For the following 3 levels, you can select addition only, subtraction only, or addition and subtraction.

① Questions up to 5 - (ie. 3+1=_, 2-2=_)
② Questions up to 10 - (ie. 7+1=_, 8-3=_)
③ Questions up to 20 - (ie. 13+4=_, 15-8=_)

For each question, we have included bonus vocabulary with images of those objects. When students tap on the ten frame, the object will appear. If they tap a second time, an X will appear over the object. If they tap a third time the object will disappear. Students should represent the equations with the objects in the ten frames and you can encourage them to make up a sentence using the new vocabulary. For example, “Three turtles were in the pond and they joined two other turtles and now there are five!”
