No.1 (podcast) with a (hairy) bullet
Count Bucolic’s podcast just gets better and better, his choice of guests more unexpected, his jokes and improvised characters all the funnier. I love the hilarious adverts, not to mention Buxton’s generous pointers to other podcasts, telly shows and things of cultural interest that have caught his attention. He really cares about his listeners and maintaining a high standard of engagement with them. I’d like him to interview Robert Smith from The Cure...but then again I’d rather be completely surprised by who he interviews next. This podcast is a main pillar in my life. The app is lovely too, beautifully designed and fecund with top-drawer extra content, including a video of Ken Korda reviewing a trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot and, elsewhere, an exclusive ramblechat where Brix Smith-Start tells Adam about the dodgy Disney ride that inspired one of The Fall’s greatest songs. The app even opens with a beautiful illustration of Rosie embracing her human pet.
Some Initial Teething Troubles - Very Quickly fixed
I love the podcast - by far the best Brian Eno interviews I've ever heard, he obviously relaxed knowing he was in good company. And the app looks great.
There seemed to be a few small teething troubles though when I first installed the app yesterday, 4th Nov.
When I first went to the Merchandise/store area and then returned back to the main site, it took me to what looked like a webpage version, ie, much smaller type etc and not very easy to navigate around.
If I then came out of that and went back into the app, it shows me the main Home page again but without the menu option in the top left-hand-side. So I then wasn't able to go anywhere.
Uninstalling then re-installing the app seemed to fix the problem. But same issue was still there if I went back to the Merchandising site again.
I registered this issue in my review yesterday and when I checked again this morning it was partly fixed, ie I can now access the menu when I return to the main site from the Merchandising one. Still seems to take me to the webpage view of the site when I return from the Merchandising one but it's an easy workaround just to close that and re-open the app.
Either someone fixed it very quickly indeed or it was maybe just a temporary glitch in my access. Either way 👍👍👍
Hope that's helpful. Big fan and always appreciate your genuine warmth and disarming honesty. Looking forward to more great episodes.
All things Dr. Buckles in one spot. Love the pics with the guests. Keep up the great podcasting. I have managed to lose five stone thanks to listening to you while walking over the last 15 months. Thanks for keeping me company!
